Watch out for leaking sunroofs. Otherwise, my 93 was a turbo so it didnt share much else in common with the non turbo 93 your looking at. If you dont have a sunroof, cant think of much else. Although the 2.2 are somewhat prone to oil leaks later on in life. But then again, what isnt?

the most common problem on the older legacies is that the door locks and window electrics start acting up and not working right all the time.

rust is the only other thing you really have to worry about on them.

nothing different from any other car.

if the timing belt hasnt been replaced it should be soon but it isnt that much of a worry as the ej22 is not an interference motor.

the drivetrain on those legacies was designed to last at least 250,000 miles.

my 95 has 246,000 and is still going strong.

you may need to replace the cam seals and valve cover gaskets at some point in the next 20,000 but that isnt too hard or too expensive.

look for oil on the timing cover below the crank pulley. that is a sign that the front crank seal or the little o-ring in the oil pump is leaking and should be replaced at some point. but leaks like this shouldnt be viewed as a deal breaker.

I had a 1993 Legacy Wagon. Things I had problems with (from memory)...

Rust under the rear bumper. My rear bumper was harldy held on because the screws rusted through. This may not apply to sedans.
Engine ticking when oil change needed (also burned oil). I had to change my oil at 3k almost exactly. It would start ticking right after that.

I really cant remember anything else. If you have specific questions they are very much the same car and I would be glad to answer anything I can. Send me a PM if you think of anything.

Hows the idle?

Lots of the old legacys have rough idles usually caused by poor engine grounds or vacuum leaks. Not too big of a deal, unless the gas mileage is eating a hole in your wallet.
