With respect to reliablity, horsepower, practicality, torque, third vehicle driven four to three times a week.......and taken to the track on sundays.....
Crawford? Axis? ej22t stroker engines? I have 2002 wrx with 20,000 miles....looking for a change. Wondering if I should get all the mileage possible out of the 2.0L with these mods.....then what set up to go with....any ideas....money is not an issue ...no ideas a big issue. FMIC 20g ppg gearset gt spec headers up/down pipe straight thermal exhaust no converters 850cc perrin fuel rail koyo radiator utec lightweight pulleys etc

World One is selling built motors, and their stage 2 is exactly that. EJ257 with forged pistons at a great price. WWW.Subarumotors.net One thing you might consider in your build is heads too. Most people who do shortblock swaps in WRX's find the WRX heads/cams too restrictive. If you get your heads p&p'd, and get STI cams, you'll get more power for your setup. I chose to go with full STI heads and swapping my utec for a Hydra, since the Hydra has AVCS control. Something to consider too since you could sell your WRX longblock to help with the cost. I figured out that if I pay for the USDM heads (roughly $1500-$2000 for a good set), my old engine would have a much better re-sale value. EJ205 shortblocks are worht $300 at best. The ECU's aren't worth much either. You might find a RS or Legacy guy who's willing to part all the pieces together, but unlikely. If you move to a built EJ257 shortblock, USDM STI heads, and a Hydra, you could sell your old complete engine with ECU and UTEC for at least $2500, recouping much of your cost. In fact, you might try to buy a used WRX tranny case and have your PPG's installed in those. Most Legacy and RS owners told me they'd pay well over $4,000 for a complete WRX engine with ECU and tranny. For people who are replacing simply for the performance, this saves us a LOT of money. Plus anybody who's driven a hybrid vs a full sti engine will tell you the AVCS is nice. Helps with a smoother power band and spooling your turbo faster. I tried to start a thread about this a while ago, and nobody could seem to grasp what I was talking about. I guess the reason why this doesn't work for most people is upfront cost and the fact that most people replace their shortblock because it's blown, and they need a cheap replacement. |
