Thumbs up

Yes, I have a 99 Legacy Gt Sedan and got the Borla exhaust from SPD Tuning. It is a borla muffler with the rear section, about half way to the cat.

I have a modified exhaust on my 99 GT. I bought a Hayame brand exhaust (one of those really fat loud suckers) and when I had it installed, I had them put in a 2.5" pipe cat-back. It's pretty straight and really loud - but that's my preference. With the added intake, I have really noticed a pick-up...Anyway, I have pics that could be scanned & e-mailed to you if you're interested.

I have Fujitsubo Legalis R silent type on my 98 Legacy GT. It's only the rear section, but direct bolt on. Kinda surprised to me, since this unit is designed for turbo application.....

Anyway, deep tone, low noise high craftmanship, the only downside? you got to buy it fromJapan. http://www5.mediagalaxy.co.jp/fujitsubo/

Miller, on the turbo Legacy, there is the downpipe off the turbo which includes the first cat. That runs back into the center pipe which has the second cat, then into the back section wich is basically the muffler. On the subaru turbos, the weak link is the down pipe but if you are going to get that you might as well do the whole system. Rallispec in NJ will be making a Downpipe( with no cat) for the Legacy Turbo in the near future. The B pipe is one of JC's names for something, not sure which piece. Hope this helps.

thanks for the info. I have a local exhaust shop here in town they were talking about building a system for me, it would remove the "Pre-cat, it would utilize a high-flow cat and a muffler the piping would be 3 inch. would this be good for performance?? I'm concerned about back pressure and weather this would have enough ?? The car is a turbo. I was concerned about the noise too, they recomended using a resonator or a silencer to meet requirements. what do you think.,

Miller, I heard that removal of the first cat will make the check engine light stay on. And as far as ound, I personally think louder is better. You should just make sure you don't put on one of them sissy mufflers or the car will sound like one of those civic's with a whistle stuck up it's a$$. Get something deep, I know mine is REAL deep and it sounds awesome. Unless you live in CA the police really will not care about the sound.

Miller, don't worry about the Check engine light coming on. The Legacy Turbo only has 1 O2 sensor( at least the 91s did) and it is before the first cat so you can do just about anything to the exhaust and the ECU will never know about it because the sensor is directly after the turbo. I would not worry about back pressure at all since we are talking turbos. The more back pressure, the longer it will take the turbo to spool up and the more heat will build up so make it as free as you can. At stock boost levels, a very free flowing exhaust will probably not make a *gigantic* difference but you should DEFINITELY have the exhaust done before you start upping the boost.

I have the JC Sports 2.5" cat-back exhaust on my 99 2.5GT. It uses an Arospeed muffler, and it sounds perfect. My brother likes it more than the custom setup on his 2.5RS turbo, and he wishes he had my setup

Don't get it thru JCSports tho (never ever again will they get a dime from me), just get the muffler from an Arospeed dealer and have some 2.5" piping made up! I can even tell you exactly which muffler it is if there is enough interest.

Kev,
I say show alittle respect to Joe at JC Sports. Have you ever tryed to run a business? Read the history on their web-page and maybe you're perspective will change. This stuff is hard to come by, lets give all the suppliers all the support in the world to keep making this stuff. And if you follow the i club board you will see that they seem to be drastically improvinig things.

Awwww, did I hurt Joe's feelings?

Seriously though, all I know is when I purchase an item, and don't GET IT for 4 months, that is crap. No updates telling me where the status of my swaybar is, nothing. That is inexcusable. If Joe wants to go into business, good for him. But if he wants to take my money and show nothing for it for 4 months, then he no longer deserves my business. I wondered why everyone ragged on JCSports, and I took the chance anyway. I learned the hard way that all that ragging was deserved, and there is no excuse for it. If he doesn't have the time to do his business, then don't take my money.

No slack.

I will never show mercy to people who never change. That shop does not know what "customer service" is.

Although I never bought anything from them, I still have some complication with them.
2 yrs ago, after several pleasant conversation with joe, I helped them to buy 3 Hyper Rev books and mailed to them in exchange for an intake system. Books sent and I never got my intake system. I called in, e-mailed and fax more than 20 times without any replies.

Point of lesson, never associate with JC Sports of CO. They screw their customers before, now and probably always will.

If you want the cheap strut bar, check this one out. http://www.cfimotorsports.com/bars.htm

Although it is made for Impreza, it will also fit onto a 98,99 Legacy with minor modification.

(You will have to take one screw out of the cruise control module mount and tilt it to clear the bar)

I got my bar within in 6 business days. (when they have the unit in stock.)

For any future future front strut bar shoppers, this can be a good alternative.

Well I own my own computer business, and sometimes we get backlogged similar to that (i've taken over a month to ship a PC at times) but I've always contacted the customer and at least offered a reason for the delay. Customers like to have answers and know why stuff is late. Most of the time they will understand, so long as you are upfront and keep the communications open. Have any of you guys dealt with the guy from Primative? Seems like a pretty straight forward guy. I think I'll get the skid plates for my Legacy when I get it.

I installed the APEXi Megaphone Series on mine. I actually had it special order from Japan. The problem is, it was the Legacy Wagon pipe, so it's a little offset and the pipe stuck out, so I had it cut, and flush with the bumper. It hits the heat shield when I am revving down, but easily remedied. It's got a nice tone to it, not an offensive sound. I got also got a Proline Intake system, and set the idle to 500, the thing has better kick, and louder, since I have the hoodscoop open now. Everything was ~$600 not bad.

Seems the topic's gone from exhaust to JC Sports...so while we're there....I ordered the Strut Brace about a month ago...the web page says 4-6 weeks, it's been 4. No confirmation of order received or anything. Did I make a big mistake guys? Is that why his strut brace was so much cheaper than the other guys? How long am I gonna be waiting for this thing? awww geez! You got me nervous now....

Miller, if you have plans in the near future of putting an intercooler on your Turbo, you might want to hold off till you get it because chances the bar will not fit. If an intercooler is not in the works, then no problems.

Wow, I am still reading about products bought from JC Sports taking 4 or more weeks to get delivered. That sucks! I will keep an eye on you folks to see how business gets done.

As far as strut braces, try Primitive Racing http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/susp.htm#brace
Paul Eklund should know what works and what doesn't since he is an avid rally driver.
As far as mufflers go, well, I have an Impreza. I don't know if SPD Tuning (http://www.spdusa.com/prod05.htm) has Remus mufflers for Legacys but I know that it has a nice deep, mellow tone to it.

Miller, I don't think JC strut tower bar will fit on your. The problem is not you have or doesn't have intercooler. I saw Impreza with that strut tower bar and intercooler. The problem with that sturt tower bar is the bar connector, it is high, so you can't close the hood. You can go try at Team Speed Racing in Belleve or Aurora. It is the same sturcture. However, there are one bar that might fit is the Cusco bar ST/AA series. This one you can't put the intercooler. Also,JC one, you have to relocate you AC line on the top of the strut tower. the Cusco one you don't have to relocate the AC line.

Cusco is the suspension company from Japan. You can buy at Minnam or Option Auto Salon. One more question, Did that guy has AC on his car? Could you send me the picture?
