Impreza GC8 Anyone remember the really old group buy on GC/GM/GF carpet?

I'm talking about the group buy from 2000 or 2001. One was run for different qualities of carpet for the old-chassis car, before the GD even hit the streets...

I ask because I couldn't afford it at the time. Now my carpet is so bad that it looks like Swiss cheese. I know carpet can be had from anywhere, but cutting it to fit sometimes is a pain, and not all templates work well. Or at all.

Anyone know of current, decent options?

Hmm, maybe answered my own question...

Found an old post by Nino's Auto:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432636

On post #52, Opie likens it to some carpet on JC Whitney.

Checked their site, and carpet kit is $179 for the 2000 Impreza.

I like the "Dark Graphite" personally.

Hmmmm..... Best option?

^^^

Hmm, later comments in that thread say the JCW carpet is crap. And Nino's carpet didn't work out.

Bummer.

Start-over........

Siper2,
I remember the group buy. Wasn't it supposed to be the same quality as OEM Mercedes Benz with the option for plush or pile etc??? I'll try searching for you too.

Not sure about Mercedes, but yeah they had quality options, as well as color.

Thanks for the help.

I just replaced mine with new OEM
and have worked much harder to take care of it.

55k miles later, it still looks new.

I would, but the quality really stinks, IMO. If I found some extremely cheap in new condition I'd take it, but I'm certainly not buying it from Subaru.

How much is the OEM carpet?

I read that all the aftermarket ones don't fit too well regardless of them advertising them as "pre-molded"

$200+ for OE from most dealerships I think, though Jamie or other wholesale/forum dealers probably can get it for less, I'd imagine. Usually a percentage over cost, rather than resale.

I always hated the carpet in my GC. It was so cheap looking and stringy. The WRX is a tad better, but nothing to write home about.

The thing about the aftermarket carpet is that the fit is usually horrible. Someone over on RS25 just did it a couple months ago and it took him something like a whole 3 day weekend. You're prolly better off just going to a custom uhpolstery shop and having them custom make it for your car. It will cost around 400 at a decent shop vs 200 or so for the pre molded kit plus 30 hours for you to install it. YMMV.

cheers

Yeah there's always that option, but it's pricey. I didn't know my options for good fit were so slim, I guess.

Quick bump of my old post.

http://www.stockinteriors.com/AutoCa...26&ModelId=401

StockInteriors.com has a kit for $129 for the 93-01 Impreza 5MT. Anyone tried this?

I think if I do any carpet replacing it'll be just the OEM stuff and some RIT dye. Should be good enough I think. OEM stuff is like 260 and dye is next to nothing.

cheers
