Default Stage 1 w/pro tune vs Stage 2 with only DP?

Okay, I've got limited funds. What's your opinions? 4 questions.

1. Stage 1 with pro tune, or stage 2 with only a down pipe?

2. What gains could I expect with a stage 1 with protune over just stage 1 (93 octane)

3. It's *generally* accepted that stage 1 is safe with no additional guages, what about stage 1 with protune.

4. Is a pro tune map loaded just like any others, then I can switch back and forth from stock map to stage 1 protune map?

Thanks all.

You're eventually going to get an exhaust anyway, so why waste the money on the protune? Get the exhaust now. You'll see good gains with it. Then get a protune later if you have the funds.

Remember I'm just looking at the DP to remain as qieut and near stock as possible - I don't care if I'm not taking advantage of all that Stage 2 can do for me, maybe in a year or 2, but not now.

I agree. Get the DP and AP, load the base 2 map and then start saving for an UP and protune.

to answer you other Q, yes a protune map is saved to your AP just like an OTS map.

WHy would you get a protune on a stock car? The whole point of a protune is to tune get a map that matches all your mods and utilizes every last bit of HP left in them, such as intakes, tbes, intercoolers etcs. you get the picture.

It's basically not the best way to blow money away having a Stage 1 protune. You could to stage 2 with a dp and not need a protune. The gains are quite substantial and car responds very well.

I would recommend going to stage 2 as for now, then have protune done once you have the funding. Otherwise, you can go stage 1 with protune and see very minimal gains. For the money you're spending... it's not going to be worth it.

definately agree with everyone here. stg1 protune = waste of money.... get the downpipe+stg2 and save up for a protune later...

i was running a catless dp with stock exhaust and using my stg 2 cobb map and i loved it. Even though it has no cats, still sounds stock except for the turbo spooling. But the extra hp with a full tbe is priceless........trust me
