QUESTION: I went to the link and tried to preregister online, but it seems that you can only register online if you have an SCCA membership. Can you not preregister if you're not a member of SCCA? Even more important, are you even allowed to register/attend if you're not SCCA? That'd suck if that were a rule, I really want to go.

John
what's up with the lack of STU entries? is anyone in nesic planning on signing up? it's a shame STU isn't as popular out here as it is in the west coast. gj dixon planned on codriving with me but 2 still doesn't bring any contingency money.

i'll probably end up in STX in a mini or with john in BSP.. john knows what i'd prefer!

watch out for the nyr crew!

That is correct, you have to be a member to participate in any SCCA National events.

You can sign up to be a member online at http://www.scca.com

Thanks, KC. I will sign up with SCCA, send payment, get confirmation/member number, then register for the event...hopefully all before the 250 cap is reached.

BTW - It was nice meeting you yesterday at the WBM. Tell Barco he's a ****. j/k

Anyone know if we can leave cars/gear on site overnight? If so, is there any security? It would be great to just shuttle in Dan's STU car between the hotel and the site. I don't want to drive up and change tires friday night just to turn around and change them again after tech.

I believe you can leave cars, howver I don't think there is security

thought the lot doubles as the State police car auction site

so maybe they police (get it!!!) it

You can leave stuff there. There have been 0 incidents to date with people leaving stuff.

Not saying it can't happen, just lock everything up.

It's a state police facility... to go on there, you're asking to be caught.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Sorry to hear Bill. Hopefully he gets a speedy recovery. Makes KC a sad person.

Zump... I have extra Kumho decals I can bring with me. You will have to buy the SCCA decals at Tech on Friday/Saturday and I will be selling magnets at the site.

Read this :http://www.scca.com/_FileLibrary/Fil...ho-Solo-NT.pdf and then print this out: http://www.scca.com/_FileLibrary/Fil...ion%20Form.pdf and bring to the event.

KC- you mean i can get paid for racing, granted i do well? it should be about time i start making money from this money pit! oh wait, arent there a lot of good racers coming up from all over for this event? i am sure i wont finish so well but id be stupid not to at least fill out the form. what do i have to lose? ill print it out, fill it in, and bring it with me. are they magnets or vinyl? id prefer magnets, but im not picky. ill pick up some scca magnets at the event as well. i have an idea for a magnet set up id like to go over with you at the race too. you truly are becoming my best friend with all your knowledge, and to think, i was so pissed off at you the first time i posted. also would there be any scca t shirts that i can pick up? and would i be an ass if i got a trunk monkey and a trunk monkey inside sticker? i love the idea and i am getting interested in the rally team and i would love to show support.
bill, im sorry to hear that. my prayers and best wishes go out to him. im sorry you cant make it, but hopefully i see you sometime in the summer. actually, if i see you id be in florida or youd be up here, so maybe ill have to head down JAX then.

Would love to go, but 3 weddings in the last 3 weeks have burnt me out.

How many runs would one expect to get at this event?

If the rains come and anyone pulls out I could be tempted!

Only 3 Runs, both days.

Hardly anyone pulls out of a national tour considering you have to pre-reg (and it's full BTW). It's not the same as a local event. It just happens to be at our local event site.

The run/work order will be posted next Wed. There's usually 5 heats. You work one heat. You run your heat. Everyone always has some downtime between when you run, and when you work. Done with everything on Sat? Go home (or stick around). Sunday, same thing, different course. Just stay the rest of the day for trophies at the end.

There are no instructors. No passengers.

A few things to take note of.
1) There are assigned grid spots. These will be assigned and put on a board in front of the grid. You are responsible to be in your grid spot before they call cars to the line. If not, you are late and could be protested. So this means pay attention to how things are running.

2) There will also probably be 2 grids. One grid will be running, while the other grid can bring their cars up. Once your car is in grid you cannot drive it out of there. It has to stay there. Bring whatever you may need with you to grid. Air, fuel, etc.

3) Worker assignments. Assignments are handed out at registration. You work both days. They try and do change over on the fly to minimize downtime. Show up after 2nd runs are done from the previous heat to sign in for work. Minimal downtime is key. Things have to run like clockwork with 250 competitors. If you don't show up to work before the end of the previous heat, you are considered late (exception being below).

4) There's usually a break between 2nd & 3rd or 3rd & 4th heats for more coursewalks. But if things are running late, it may be really shortened. If your worker assignment is the heat after the break, you don't have to check in on 3rd runs, but it would be nice so that after the coursewalks are done, we can start the event.

5) Gates open at 5. Get reged and teched on friday night and walk the course a couple times. Annual tech doesn't matter, you have to go through national tech.. Make sure you have numbers with you. You can buy the SCCA decals at the tech area. There are 5 required decals. 1 Wire Wheel logo for the front of the car. 2 National Tour Decals for both sides of the car, 2 SCCA decals for the front of the car. It will cost you $3.00 for these 5 decals. If you're running on r-compounds, you can bring them with you to tech, they do not have to be on the car.

6) Bring your rule book with you to registration. They will be checking to make sure you have one. (I am working reg and I have been told that I MUST check to make sure you have a rule book in your posession).

This post may be updated as info becomes available.

is there going to be assigned paddock spots for the weekend too? ...or is it going to be wherever we can find a spot?

What is the time window for tech and reg on friday? I see they have someone on the gate at 4...and I work from 5-7 on gate. Will I have time to tech and reg before my work assignment, or will I have to wait (due to volume) till after?

Paddock will be 1st come, 1st serve.

Reg & tech when you're done with gate. I have heard the gate doesn't open officially until 5ish. At 4, it's just for setup people. Reg won't be ready by then.

I need to get that confirmed, but I beleive that to be the case.

KC- any way i can get the SCCA decals before the event so i dont have to worry about them in the dark on friday night or when they should be the last thing i have to worry about on saturday? if you can send them to me i will pay you for them at the event. if you could get me the kumho magnets at the same time, i would greatly appreciate it. if you want the money upfront, i can gladly send you a money order. thanks for the info. anyone up for dinner on Saturday night after the event?

There is no reason to worry about the decals on the day of. Really. None. You cannot get teched without them. I do not have the decals. They sell them to you at tech. There is no way you won't be able to handle them on the day of, just like the other 250 people that will be competing. (About 125-150 cars most likely don't have the decals on their cars before they show up either)

I don't even think you'll get them in time if you ordered them from National HQ.

And they take all of 2 mintues to put on max. I can help you put them on. That's not a problem.

This is not something to be concerned about that weekend.
