Default How many of you have a sti and HATE the lower back support from the seat?

well i got rid of mine, it feels like my 02 wrx seat now, which is much more comfortable.

if you unzip the back of the sti seat and look at the U wire, it bulges into the foam of the seat like all hell. On my 02 wrx, i unzipped that as well and the U wire is about an inch to a inch and a half off the foam on the back(alot more give in the lower part of the seat b4 the u wire provides support.

So eat some popeye spinach and pull the U wire back! presto! and it feels so much better.

It goes from feeling like your grandfathers desk chair(who has 2 pillows tied to the lower back area) to feeling much more comfortable

I have pics too, if someone wants to host, my aim is mikeyWRX

I did this on my wrx; it makes the seat so much more comfortable.

Wow, cool idea. Yeah, I HATE the back support. If I sit correctly in the seat, then it's OK, I guess. But if I don't sit in it correctly, my back hurts severely after a short while. I'll try this today. This should go in the sticky of mods!

Yeah I just did this on saturday. My hands still hurt

The seats feels soooo much better now though. I also did the bottom of the seat....which was definitely a little more difficult. I think I need to do the passenger seat now...as well as pull the bottom springs down a little more on the drivers side.

So this will actually decrease the lumbar support? I'm hesitant of trying this, will it be easy to push the springs back to their former position if I don't like the results? I've always had lower back pain with these seats, and right now I have an inflatable lumbar support in there. It helps some, but I'd like to eliminate it completely. From what you can tell, will this help that?

The problem is you cant sit IN the damn thing. The seat is so wide and the bolsters are so far out that with the insane amount of lumbar support your basically getting no bolstering. Bigger guys maybe, but us little dudes.....no way.

Agreed. I'm too small for the stock seats. By loosening those springs, it's like you get sucked back into the seat.

Close to 6' and about 145lbs here and I have issues with the lumbar as well; basically any amount of time spent in the seat results in a sore back. Those Recaro seats look fantastic but I'm not sure if I'm willing to give up the side airbags (in the off chance they are needed).
