It depends on the width of the 18s, I've seen some that do work, and some that don't.

The issue is rubbing on the fenders.

I would NOT drop 18's on my car ever. It would surely dent the hood!!!

they'll fit most likely, width is your biggest enemy.

Width and offset will be the biggest concern. I would think that a 7.5" width rim that has an offset of 48-52mm would just clear. Maybe you'll need some fender roll.

I run 18x7.5 wheels with 215/35/18's tires on my 95 legacy with no issues but I want to go to a 225/40/18 tire because my wheels are bent up pretty badly with the 35 series tires.
I hope my car can take the 225 tire tho - i'll find out this weekend

Oh, 18's will fit.

I flopped back and forth on this one. I originally ordered 17's but my brother talked me into going 18's.

I too am running 215's. 225's is pushing it too far I think.

I don't think there are that many Legacy's that can pull off 18's some of them look really good with 18's but others just look too riced out for me. Choose your rim carefully, what are you planning on getting?

That wheel will look good on a 99 BD/BG. The issue, will be the 48 offset (from this spec sheet - at 18" x 7.5" - http://www.wheelsbymbmotoring.com/MB...rtsWeights.pdf) and the tire size you're going to go with. If you stick with a 215/45 (depending on the specific tire section width that you go with) you might be able to squeeze it under there. If you go any wider, then you're looking at rub on the fenders (remember lower offset moves your wheel outward away from the hub).

Also, the extra weight (21 lbs per wheel PLUS whatever additional you'll gain with the 18" tires) is going to make your car feel really sluggish. That coupled with the extra weight is also going to strain your braking system as you have significantly increased the rotational mass.

Not trying to dissuade you, just keep it all in perspective and plan your upgrades accordingly.

i've got 225s on my rims, but i've only got 16's. the tires are 225/50/16 to be exact, i have yet to encounter any rubbing issues.

mine's still stock height though, and i was planning on switching to a skinnier tire before i drop it.

the offset thread in the tire and wheel forum say between 47-50mm offset for the 7.5'' wide rim. so your in the green as far as "possibilty" goes, but if you have worn struts or your car is lowered, or you just like to take corners really fast, you might rub every now and then. as stated, you will feel real sluggish from the 18's. if i were you i would go 17's, plus you'll still be able to clear those massive STI brembo's once your STI swap is done......

Going to a plus size rim, you will also offset a bit of tire weight. It's not much but it is some. Going to a larger rim even if it is lighter will lose you some horsepower, because your pushing the weight further out.

In one of the horsepower tv shows I watched, a RSX lost a couple hp on the dyno by going to larger brake rotors, even though the rotors were lighter than stock, because the rotational mass is closer to the edge of the tire.

I think if you select a light weight rim, the effect is minimal.

A lower profile tire has less tire flex, and also improves handling though, at the cost of ride comfort.

I think 17's are probably the perfect size for the BD's, but I can't say I'm sorry I went with 18's. When I look at my car I want to make sweet love to it. I mean... never mind.

So yeah,
umm 225/40/18's on 18x7.5 49mm offset on a lowered BE = no rub. i would think you'll be fine with 215's on a BD.
