Question 07 Tribeca Limited stereo connection question

I am installing headrest DVD players in my 07 Tribeca and located a connector behind the stereo that has similar colored wires that go to the stereo. Can someone tell me what the wires pin out to and what this connector may have connected to. The connector was "tear away" taped to the stereo wiring harness. It is a small white 8 pin connector with 6 wires attached.
Blue with red stripe
Purple
Orange
Green with yellow stripe
Red with silver dots
Black with yellow stripe

I would post a pic but I can't seem to figure that out yet on this forum.

My guess would be some kind of optional extra. Factory subwoofer, rear camera, something. Not100% sure, but I'm sure somebody will chime in.
For pictures. I find it's easiest from the phone. When you respond to a post, there's a plus sign at the top of the post box. It will allow you to take a new picture or select from your album.
From a computer, you have to use a hosting site like imgur.com

I know the CM621UB and CM631UD are directly swappable. What about the FW602US?

The Fujitsu Ten navigation HUs have Toyota-style connectors, so they're not directly compatible with an Impreza or Forester's factory harnesses. However, I can now supply all of the harnesses/adapters you'll need (except for the GPS and XM antennas). See posts starting here.

Default Does anyone have a FP 606 US

I need help with my navigation system I have a FP 606 US and I need somebody to help me out with programming the stereo. If someone has the same model I would need a copy of the SD card and I could talk you through how to successfully copy it so I could see if that will load up my navigation system. Is there a link to a thread or does a thread even exist that shows what year subaru navi's are compatible with other years? I have an 05 and I don't really want anything that looks fancy but I do want navi, bluetooth, and xm.

For the non-nav OEM models with a 4.3" screen (as well as the OEM Kenwood and TomTom navigation models), you'll want my 8-pin camera harness.

I'm not aware of any threads specifically comparing navigation HUs. But see this:
Subaru Stock head unit information -- pin-outs, subwoofer, aux inputs, and more
The main issue: All 2008 and newer OEM HUs are non-standard size (8" wide). 2007 and earlier Impreza/WRX/STi and OBS have a standard double-DIN sized opening (7" wide).

The one exception is the OEM TomTom nav, which is a double-DIN (and almost, but not quite the same as an Eclipse AVN4430). But I wouldn't recommend that nav, unless you can get one dirt cheap.

A few people have shoe-horned a later OEM HU into an older Subaru by hacking the dash opening. Here's a thread with pics:

The wiring harnesses also changed in the 2008-up models. I can supply parts you can use to assemble adapter harness(es).

Note that older cars don't have the CAN data bus that the OEM Kenwood Navi wants, so you won't have some of the car performance data and ability to control car settings (keyless entry, courtesy light timers, etc.).

You'll be better off with an aftermarket head unit. Look for one with a removable screen, or use one of those 'fake OEM radio' bezels that someone linked in your other thread.

Default Nav screen turns off with HU ??

I have an Australian 2008 Liberty (Legacy) with McIntosh HU and factory Sat Nav.

I've run the 12vACC wire (YR) going to the HU through a relay that is operated by the mute function on my cell phone car kit.

Works as expected, except for one thing - when the HU turns off upon phone use so does the Nav screen.

Any ideas why ?

If you need the latest maps DVD for your OEM nav system (Version 6.1 - October 2013), check out this listing on eBay:

I have 11 WRX with the factory unit model CZ624U1 and I would like to swap with the unit FW602US So far what I been ridden about the wiring is different can you help me with this please

Default Non-nav HU - base '14 WRX - OEM sub wiring?

I can't seem to find a post directly on this but I get that I am probably missing it, have spent over an hour on this thread. I just want to add an amp/sub to my new WRX with non-nav HU.

Does this have an OEM sub hookup under the seat? Can I use this connection to wire a LOC, or do I have to get behind the HU still. I think there was a link somewhere in an earlier post (page 13), but the link is broken. I have an Alpine Mono sub amp - just looking to get a signal to it. And, is the stock HU connected to this, and will it control the volume/output of the sub once I get it installed?

If there is a specific instruction on how to hook up a LOC to this OEM sub harness, I'd like to read up more on it. Just not finding anything specific to this car yet and non-navi.

The non-nav, Subaru-branded OEM HUs in 2008-2014 Impreza, WRX, STi, and Crosstrek do not have a subwoofer output. And no cars have the OEM wiring harness for the under-seat sub, unless that sub had been installed at some point.

Your only option is to tap a pair of the HU's speaker outputs. Easiest place to do that is behind the HU (even easier if you use my 20-pin combined "breakout" harness ).

The only recent Impreza and Forester models that I know of with a line-level sub out are the OEM Kenwood navigation, a few Forester models (including CP635U1, CP235K1, and PP443L6), and some Canadian cars that got a Pioneer as their "OEM" HU.

2014 Crosstrek with factory navigation, Kicker upgraded speakers, and Kicker tweeters. No subwoofer.

What would the harness be for the subwoofer? Is there an easy way to wire up an older Subaru underseat subwoofer to this unit? I avoided the Kicker Subwoofer because I hear it is awful, expensive, and eats up 1/3 of the cargo area.

I am looking for the easiest, most noninvasive, and inexpensive way to add a little bass to this car. As of now, the Kicker speakers deliver crystal clear sound that is extremely flat, even after tweaking the equalizer for the most bass.

SVXdc - which harness would I need to connect a Subaru underseat subwoofer from a 2009-2013 Forester to this navigation unit? How difficult of a job is this?

I have Subaru Legacy 2005 without navi,

Factory HU is GX-201LE, i need correct pinout for 20 PIN CD changer connector of this HU, because according to information in main topic there is no satellite switch pins (steering wheel controls) in this jack:

Thanks a ton for confirming this SVXdc. You have an outstanding knowledge of Subaru electronics and it appears you have helped a lot of people on this board. I kept looking around, I guess I was hoping or trying to believe there was a sub output I could connect to. There is some type of harness under my passenger seat, I guess it is something else.

If I can figure out how to get behind the stock HU now...oh man. My Civic Si was so much easier to deal with...had a 'stock' 6-inch sub in the trunk you could just tap into.

Looks like this WRX doesn't even have speakers on the back lid. Only in the doors? So you're probably right the HU is going to be the easiest place to tap.

Love the car but I'm surprised at a few things...Hondas do get some things right in their cars, the Civic Si system definately is superior. But the WRX will smoke that thing without any doubt

Default Need help please! :)

Hey guys,
Don't really know where to post this as I can't start a new thread ( I'm new here).
I just really need help with the installation of an Alpine CDE-141 in my 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5 TS.
I have a wire harness, soldered together with the attachment for the back of the stereo - everything is put together but there is no power coming through and it's not turning on!
I tried the old stereo back in to see and that isn't getting power either, so it must be behind the connection from the wires in the car. Checked the fuses, everything is fine and I don't know where to go from here.....
Sorry I'm new at this, but would really appreciate any help on what to check and how to fix this!! Don't want to spend the money at an auto electrician.

Does anyone know how to get ahold, or the correct email address for SVXdc? I emailed him a couple days ago about ordering a 20-Pin harness for my 2014 impreza and I havent heard anything back.

Default locating speaker wire behind dash

OK, so back to the non-nav HU on a '14 WRX. I really am not wanting to tear apart the whole dash to get behind the head unit, if my only purpose is to tap a few of the speaker wires to hook up a LOC for my sub amp...but, does the wire bundle containing the speaker wires come out somewhere that is accessible behind the dash, such as on firewall above the pedals or anything like that - that I could find the specific color wire necessary and butcher into them to do my thing?

I know this goes against the clean idea of a custom harness that splits out to another harness for the wires to the LOC....to me tearing up the dash and risking to break something is a lot worse of an idea. Don't need to be advised either on the aftermarket HU thing either...I've had em, know they're better than this unit, not interested right now.
