It depends on how much you work on it each day, and how prepared you are. Some can do it in a week with the right tools and items needed to do the swap, with wiring diagrams, etc. Ive seen some take months that aren't properly prepared - usually newbie swappers.

I am currently swaping a 04 sti into a 98 2.2 NA. In one week, spending about 3-4 man hours a day (get a friend to help), I have completely stripped the car, and have most of the sti wiring back in the car. The drivetrain is done in the rear, and I am waiting for an engine hoist to pull the old engine/tranny and put in the new one. This should be easy compared to the wiring, which by the way you will need to to go the the subaru technical website and pay $35 and download all the wiring diagrams for both the sti and the old car. If you have worked on subys before, then all the nuts and bolts stuff is fairly easy with a few fab bits, but expect to spend significant time on the wiring.
