Default 2013 WRX Reverse Bulbs - Can someone confirm size?

My WRX is on order but I'm buying little things here and there before it arrives. No performance mods while under warranty.

Anyways, I'm looking at getting some LEDs for my reverse lights. But I've noticed two sizes are listed. 7440 and 921. I've seen a few people saying 7440 is too big but I just would like a confirmation that a 921 is the correct size before I order.

Thanks.

Sedan or hatch?

Mods are mods. Remember, your warranty generally cannot be voided. Your warranty claim however can be denied.

Hatch.

If bulbs deny my warranty, I'll def sue them. These will give me better visibility than stock. I've got LED reverse bulbs on my current car and it's much better at night.

7440 is probably the main brake light bulb, with 921 being the 3rd brake light bulb

For the sedan, it is definitely a 168/194/W5W/921 base.

I had a friend whom had a wagon/hatch and we modded one of the back-up lamps to function as a fog-lamp. I think that on the wagon/hatch it's a 7440 base.

Respectfully, why don't you pull the cover and look at the bulb?

Thanks bbun. I've seen that. It lists the 7440 and 921 as a reverse bulb. I started this thread in hope someone with a hatch could answer it. 7440 is the larger of the two but the bases are different.

So the 7440 fits? You linked 921. I just wanna be sure before I buy. Thanks man.

Can you link the specific ones you bought so I can check the overall bulb dimensions?

Sylvania lamp replacement guide says 7440.It'll be hard to find a LED bulb giving as much lumens (465). The brighest one from superbrightLEDs is 220 lumens.

Even the "super bright" led that you posted is 360 lumen, so you're still losing light output.

bbun, you are a gentleman and a scholar! I exclusively use your post as my guide to replace any and all bulbs in my 2014 WRX. So far you're 7 for 7. Thanks!

Has anyone tried the below? I am looking at getting the brightest reverse lights possible as we have tint on both cars and out in the country we need more light back there.

I got those:
http://www.prolightz.com/index.php/l...-up-bulbs.html

They're brighter than stock, and have a focused beam. Makes a nice change to the car.

The ones I got from VLEDs are bright and I like them. Been going strong two plus years. The exact model is discontinued though but I'm sure one of their newer models is even better.
