Well, after waiting a few weeks to get the STi blue Alcantara ultrasuede in, it finally came. i decided to take my time on this one, so it took me about 2 seperate days of about 2 hrs each just tinkering around to finish the job.
Ultimately, the hardest part is breaking the pop rivets. injury happens. I sliced my finger with a flat head while trying to do this, but no big deal it just takes time. Here are a few pics, then a couple of notes: ![]() fabric off, masked off top half of the door, glue applied ![]() finished project with my JDM V7 STi seats. matches perfectly ![]() both doors ![]() found out i have eclipse rear door speakers hahah ![]() the Master's workshop ok- now time for the notes: first of all, i found that the instructions for the do-it yourself werent that accurate. perhaps because they were for another year of wrx, i dunno. ultimately, you have to remove the plastic bezel around the door handle gently so you dont break it with a screw driver, remove the screw in the door's arm-rest (located in the deep pocket in the arm rest) and then the door just pops off with pop rivets. The door card's 2 pieces are held together with 3 screws (2002 bugeye doors) and plastic rivets. remove the screws, break all the rivets, and then the door card comes apart. after that, rip out the old fabric, use it as a some what template (give yourself plenty of extra material) and then spray glue, re-apply new fabric, and heres the biggest part: use a flat head screwdriver to stuff the fabric into the crease in the top part of the door card where the fabric meets the black top of your door. let dry, and then trim to fit. also, i found that instead of self tapping screws, small metal tin screws (the really pointy sharp ones) held the door card together better. all in all, i didnt take enough pics as i should have, but its one of the DYI mods that you really just have to go do for yourself and figure it out. everyone's experience is going to be different in this one. but ultimately it came out very nicely and everyone seems to love the Alcantara door cards. any questions feel free to PM me - Milo |

just did mine, it came out like butta! im definitely doing the seats, i tried to take the cover off the seats with out taking the seat out of the car and a small piece of the fabric is stuck in by the hinge. it seems thin enough to be do-able on your regular sewing machine, i'll post pics when i finish....aha! roof lining

That Alcantara stuff is expensive though... almost $100 a yard. I think I'm going to go the less expensive route and go with faux suede from JoAnnes Fabric. Its less than $10 a yard. |

Question for 04-05 STi owners - did you remove all the melted rivets or just some, there's like 16 per door.
