Default recall Legacy.....

i know it was posted in here a while back, but does anyone remember what the recall was for? all i remember is that it had to do somethin' with the suspention. reason im askin' is that after i got my CD rotors installed, a few days after i kept hearin this quit rumbling sound when my car is movin at idle speed (5-10mph i think). it sounds like somthin is loose in the engine bay when ever i hit small bumps and somtimes it sounds like its inor by the wheel wall. this thing has me goin paranoid and can't seem to find the problem, i've looked around nside the engine bay and nothin' seems loose but i still keep hearin that "somthin's loose" sound in there. the car's goin in its 50k btw and i think i'll have a tuned up done to it if i cant figure it out, it need it any ways. any suggestions and help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Default Legacy Recall...

I got the letter last week;

MODELS AFFECTED:
95-99 Legacy and Outback models sold or registered in many of the Northeastern States.
RECALL:
Front Coil Springs improperly painted. If operated in the "salt-belt" area, the salt could corrode the front coil springs and eventually cause them to break.

Basically the broken coil could puncture the tire and cause a possibly severe accident.

SOA is going to inspect the coil springs and if corroded, replace the springs. If the springs are not corroded, they will place a guard around the springs to prevent tire puncture.

Peace

Could you please try to describe the rattling sound you are hearing? My 1995 Legacy has been making a rattling sound only when the engine speed is at about 1900 rpm, and is more noticeable when making turns. I can't seem to pinpoint where on the car the sound is coming from, perhaps the engine bay.

The rattling sound i hear sounds like maybe a heat shield is loose. However I know that a set of heat shields was removed from the car last year because they were rattling. It doesn't sound like any large or heavy parts are vibrating, but rather something small or thin (like a heat shield). It seems odd that this sound only occurs when the engine speed is approximately 1900-2000 rpm, and it occurs regardless of what gear the tranny is in.

well actually the rattling sound i hear is definatly somewhere by the driver side/corner front of the car. when the car is running around 1k-2k rpm, u can hear it rattling pretty bad espeacially when i hit little bumps on the road. it sound as if somethings loose down there, something bigger than a bolt (from the way it sounds anyways). my co-worker thinks it the mud flaps or the heat shield but i fixed up the shield a few months ago so i don't think its that. im really getting paranoid over this thing, so im gonna have it checked out at the dealer asap b4 the whole engine falls off , just to be on the safe side. but i've allready looked under the hood but can't seem to find out whats causing it and cant really pin point where its coming from

btw how long has your car been havin' this rattling sound? mine just started about a month ago.
