Default cobb ap - bad cable or bad ap?

I am getting this "can not communicate with ecu" error nearly every time I plug in my AP now. It will only work if I turn it just right and plug it in. I am trying to decide if it is the AccessPORT itself, or just the cable. I called COBB and they told me to send it in, but I really dont have the ability to go without it for a week (I HAVE to use the anti-theft mode at night, my area = highest car theft area in az). Anyone have a similar error? If so how did you fix it? I have also noticed that occasionally if it gets turned the right way, the cable will come lose on the AP side, it will turn off, then back on with all kinds of weird stuff on the screen. The cable it put on as tight as it will go, I am out of ideas.

i had the same problem with cobb, they sent me a new cable first, then postmarked the box, and i sent my cable back. So i was never without a cable.

I think the cables are on the delicate side. The cable that came with my unit did not work. Cobb was super good about getting me a new one though and are very cool to deal with.
