Default Wanted: Venders to post prices on wheels

Question:
Why dont you venders ever put prices on all your wheels? Why do we always have to call or PM you for prices? Life would be alot easier if you would just list all prices in your post...

Nick

You won't get one....however I do agree, I wish 'all' sellers would post prices instead of PM me or make an offer.

*plus* this is the 'want to buy' forum, most likely won't get the answer in here....try the general discussion forum.

It's because the vendor's supplier (ie. manufacturers) "requires" them to advertise the product at a certain price (ie. not too much below MSRP). Don't worry, comsumers are better off this way.

Why are they better off this way? If the venders buy a certain wheel from a supplier / wholesaler and they have these wheels in stock they should have the price ready to post. It cant depend on what the yen, euro, etc. because the rim is already paid for by the vender.

Consumers are better off because we get competitive pricing. If vendors were to list prices, most often, the prices would be lower than MSRP because the vendors will still make a profit at lower than MSRP. The manufacturer opposes this because the value of their product is effectively decreased. The manufacturer would be less like to supply the vendor or will reduce the discount the vendor receives. The vendor has to make a certain amount of profit so when the vendor is paying more for the product, the consumer will have to pay more.

To get around this, vendors ask consumers to ask for pricing privately. Most often, the prices vendors give are below (maybe well below) MSRP. I'm sure most suppliers are aware that their vendors are selling lower than MSRP but as long as everyone is benefiting, there is no problem.

So in most cases when you see advertised prices they are or close to MSRP. If vendors are absolutley required to sell at MSRP, they often sweeten the deal for consumers with added bonuses like free shipping so they stay competitive with other vendors.
