Default daveB's grilled pizza Version 1.0 (BETA) [pics]

this is a clone from EOF but there isn't much traffic there.

Presentation: D-
Flavor: A-
Cooking and Prep: D+/C-
Overall Grade: a solid C - Do it again Stupid, and fix your mistakes.

Okay so I was all super unoriginal with the topings so don't bust my balls

The dough was a recipe I hijacked from Alton Brown.. Unfortunately I goofed somewhere in the prep and my dough failed to rise as much as expected... This may have been a blessing in disguise as you'll hear about later.

Well ... before the sun rises tomorrow I will need to get a bottle of EVOO and a bottle of regular OO.. yeah I know I've been sans OO for several days/maybe even a week and it's a sin and trouble... I will remedy this asap. Well we did have EVOO in the pantry but ti was that flavored EVOO my choices were Roasted Chile, Cilantro, and Rosemary... I chose Rosemary the less of all three evils.

I knew something was wrong when my dough was a lot wetter than it should've been (stupid humidity) but I think i perhaps goofed on the recipe somewhere. Well I added flower to help out a little bit in the mixing process (kitchenaid dough hook goodness). After kneeding for 15-20 minutes in the mixer I took the dough out dressed with some OO and placed in a bowl to rise/rest.

Several hours later my dough didn't rise much at all (yes I used fast acting/instant yeast). Well while the dough continued to not rise I started preparing the topings...

1 tube of Bob Evans Italian Sausage which Im sure wasn't nearly as hot as I wanted so I added crushed red pepper, sweet basil, and oregano.

1 package of pepperoni (precooked)

1 green pepper
1 onion
1 package of shredded mozerella I combed the store for "fresh" mozerella but I couldn't find any.

After the sausage had browned i took my onion and green pepper and sauteed them in the same skillet the sausage was browned in (for flavor and to save on dirty dishes)

Well here goes the fun part: I don't have a pizza peel and I was cooking on the widdle weber grill. Now my problems will be remedied with a pizza peel and a bigger cooking surface (or making smaller pizzas).

Well I got my pizza dough on an impromptu pizza peel (the bottom of a baking sheet with parchment paper on it) and headed out to the gauntlet.. I had all my sauce and topings out there ready to go..

I through the pizza on the grill and it bunched up a little bit.. no worries I started fixing it on the grill. Then came the fun part: flipping the dough. Tongs and a bare hand did the job but the dough bunched up and flopped over on itself .. I acted quickly to fix it burning fingers and all (heh cooks make sacrafices) fixxed it then threw on the toppings and cooked that bitch.. then it dawned on me.. I had no way to get the pizza off the grill.. ... *doh*

So I threw on some motorcycle gloves (not nearly thick enough btw) and grabbed the cooking surface.. burned some finger tips dropped it and the pizza into the grill!!! luckily the za was salvageable and quick hands pulled the cooking surface and pizza out and plopped it down on the nearby cooking sheet. I decided to claim defeat and ran off to the kitchen to admire my masterpiece of failure

I ripped off the uncooked blobs of dough that got bunched up on the sides .. which left the pizza trimmed and neat looking.. okay maybe this wasn't so bad after all I thought.. I cut it up into four slices and bit into one of 'em... It was GOOD ... the toppings combined with the sauce... oh man YUm. then it hit me.. the over powering rosemary flavor

It was almost non existant but as I got further out of the center of the pizza to thicker dough (which was wafer thin already) the flavor of the rosemary was just over powering and almost nauseating...

Overall I'm going to try again in a few days because I still have a **** load of toppings left (i was expecting to have more dough) this will give me a chance to perfect the dough recipe and perhaps fix my problems with the grill..
