Thumbs down Hunter Subaru, Hendersonville NC

I started having problems with my 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS popping out of first gear. I took the car in for the necessary repairs. I was called and told my car was ready. I drove all the way up there to find out they hadn't fixed it. I tested the car right down the street to make sure it was fixed. They adjusted something outside of the transmission, avoiding the real problem inside the transmission. I wasted my gas going up there and was still without my car for close to another week. After I got my car back for the second time it was fixed. Plus when I went to get the car one of the service women showed me a dealership survey. Why in the world would she show me that and ask me how satisfied I was if she didn't already know I was pissed off with them? She was like "you're going to be getting one of these surveys in the mail, is there anything right now that we need to do to make you more satisfied?"........I just said, yeah there's a lot, but I'll talk to Steve about it.

My car was suppose to have leather installed with red stitching. When I went to pick up the car there was no red stitching. All I got was a, "sorry, well it would just bring the resale value down". The car also had 2 huge scratches on the passenger side console. The car was delivered to me like this. I had picked up the car at night so I didn't notice the scratches until the next day. I did receive 2 free oil changes to compensate, but that was not enough. I shouldn't have even taken delivery of the car with all that was going wrong, but I wanted this car so bad, I did.

The clean up department isn't doing any better either. I've never paid for a wash or a vacuum, but when they give you a free "wash and vacuum" I expect it to be done. They washed the car half-assed, but it definitely wasn't vacuumed.

The parts dept. is no better. I had installed another oil pressure sensor in addition to what was already on the car. When I started to tighten the alternator belt tensioner bolt it snapped. I called Hunter and ordered the part. He told me when the part would be there. It ended up arriving 2 days later than what he told me. I was on nightshift so I had to sleep during the day. he told me that he would be there until 5:30 and said I could come pick up the bolt. Well, I got there right at 5:30. He was gone and the parts dept. was all closed up. He knew I was coming and he didn't even stay until 5:30. If he was leaving early he should have left the part with the switchboard operator. So again, I wasted more gas. The following day they delivered the part to my house. The part was wrong! He didn't even listen to what I had said. I told him specifically what part it was "alternator tensioner bolt" and the piece that it screws into. He sent me the bolt for the other side of the alternator (the hinge bolt). This was like on a Friday so I didn't get the correct part until the next Monday. I was told they had no shuttle delivery drivers to bring it to me so I had to go get it. I just wanted my car fixed, so I just went and got it.

Then I started experiencing sever clutch shudder. I took the car up there and they checked it out and gave me a rental car for 3 days (max allowed by SOA for this repair). Well, they didn't have the parts to fix it, so they had to order them. They then said I wouldn't get another rental. Why is it my fault that they don't have the parts? So it took 3 weeks for them to get the flywheel. He said he called me and left a message. I said no you didn't. He continued to argue with me. Then I asked him what number he called.........he was one # off... He didn't apologize for it. He was suppose to call me at work when the subaru district manager made a decision on my car (as to whether or not they would warranty the repair). He said that he called my work # and it had been "disconnected". I asked him what # he called and he said he didn't remember and he had thrown the # away.....YEAH OK.

So finally I called him up and asked him what's the deal. And he acted like he didn't know why I was so angry with him. They are the ones who contacted SOA just so they wouldn't have to fix it. He acted like he was doing me a favor......"we are fixing this under goodwill", "I tried to help you out showing the district manager how well you took care of your car" BS :monkey: He also said I wouldn't be getting that rental car either. Well, that really did it. I threatened to take legal action and he got his manager on the phone (3 way conversation) and I proceeded to tell him what the deal was. I told him that I felt like I was being jerked around b/c I was young. I honestly feel that's why they thought! they could jerk me around. And another thing, subaru needs to fess up and admit that they have a problem with these clutch assemblies and stop blaming subaru customers!

So, I filed a complaint with SOA. The car is fixed now. But wouldn't you know they screwed something else up when they put the clutch in. They put the exhaust on crooked. I fixed it myself. I'm done messing with these morons. I wouldn't even take my car back there for an oil change.

Just so you can avoid the same headaches I've went through avoid Hunter Chevrolet/Volvo/Subaru/Hyundai. They are located at 2520 Asheville Hwy, Hendersonville, NC. And since you won't be going there you won't have to deal with Steve Hall.......he's the guy that told me numerous lies. He knew I had filed a complaint against them. That's when he started calling me "sir" and gave me a fake handshake.

That's all I have for now, I'm sure I left out a few hundred other things they did also. You could not pay me enough to ever go back there again.

Prestige is an hour away from me, which isn't too close considering....

I went up there before the car was fixed.........I'll leave it at that.

Vic Bailey in Spartanburg never did call me when they were suppose to get a blue ridge pearl coupe in. I figured if they wanted my business they would have called.
