Default Rifle, CO ????

Thanks for looking in here. I'm going to Colorado to hangout with my wifes family. Her sister lives in Teluride but we are all meeting in Rifle, her Mom rented a house. Has anyone here been to this town? Just trying to find out what there is to do around there. We have couple of mountain bikes but would like to know about rafting or fishing. No I don't have my car although in hind sight if I knew we were going to go for 6 days I would have driven. I have driven out to Teluride a couple times and there were some really fun roads. It would have been fun to just go driving everyday but oh well. TIA

Are you staying in Rifle? If so you are close to Gelnwood Springs. Nat hot springs. And just down the road it the Grand Mesa. And Grand Juction. Also on the same road from Glenwood is a town called Crawford and if you are a Joe Cocker fan you can check out his store or gold records on his wall. If you are into Aloha shirts Paridise on a Hanger is from there as well.
Have a good time in the area as I have.

Plenty of trails for the bikes. Bars will easily be found. There are a lot of the outdoorsy types of things to do around there.

I camped at Rifle Gap about 10 miles north of Rifle last year. You could fish or Mt Bike there. Best bet is to go to Glenwood Springs. The Hot Springs are great. You can also go a few more miles east along Glenwood Canyon and hike up to Emerald Lake. It will be the longest and steepest 1 mile hike you will ever go on but well worth it.

Rifle is also home to one of the hardest sport climbing areas in North America. Not much for a beggniner to do there, but anyone with some skills will be in heaven...

Hey, I thought that was called "Hanging Lake." Unless there is another lake with the longest, steepest 1 mile hike to it?

Go drive I-70 through Glenwood Canyon really fast! Last year on a trip to my wife's knee doctor in Vail we exceeded the posted speed limit by 65mph in her CLK55.
