Got my WRX this week, finally - a white 2006. Not the best week to bring out a new vehicle, what with the rain. (Note to anyone visiting Bragg Creek - the province, in their infinite wisdom, started doing chip-sealing on Highway 22 between 8 and Bragg Creek on Friday - the day I picked up the car - and they substituted huge stones instead of pea gravel, plus, it's not sticking to the tar, so it's virtually like a gravel road.)
No mods yet - unless you count a Valentine One and a Garmin GPS60cs a mod. Gonna stick with what I've got for now, while I get the feel of it.![]() Went to Blackfoot Motorsports Park on Friday night with my 9-year-old nephew, having promised to take him to the spectator stage of the Rocky Mountain Rally that night. We got to wander the service park for a bit, but the stage was canceled, which was a bummer. Took a trip out to Louise yesterday to stretch its legs and get moving on the break-in period, and when I got back to Petro-Can at 1&22 to refuel, a couple of clowns came tearing down the frontage road (Township Rd 245A) in a late 90s Pontiac Grand Am, a bare-stock late 90s Honda Civic, and another late 90s Ford Explorer, and did a bunch of emergency-brake skids on the gravel road, redlining their engines and acting like idiots overall, all the time keeping their eyes on me. And today at a stop light in the NW, I got revved at by a guy in a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck with a "Type R" emblem on the tailgate. Um, yeah.Is this kind of behavior typical of other drivers once you get a car like the WRX?

My wife tells me that some guy in a "turbo Toyota" gave her the finger for the crime of blowing him away at a light. She was pretty much ignoring him but he figured she was racing.
The trick is to drive fast enough that these cretins can't catch up to troll. Oh, tinted windows help too |

Later I found out that the area where he was driving beyond the merge lane has a guardrail that starts to come up out of the ground near where he had cut me off. I don't think he would haved stopped if he did hit me. Other than that one time, I find the wagon fairly "invisible" to others. |

Welcome jay911 ! Sweet ride.. the 06's look awesome in white! Haha.. I've seen that "type R" truck as well.. too funny.
I haven't had someone trying to race me for a while now, but Saturday night, heading back from the Rally banquet, some guy in a big sporty looking Acura tried to race me. I generally don't take the bait, but... he learnt a valuable lesson that night. ![]() |

Anyways, you're driving a WRX. What do you expect? That's not even as bad as my MR2. As if most cars on the road today can take a WRX. I think they do it just so they can see you take off. I usually like watching cars take off..! ![]() |

Yup, that's me. Hi and thanks for the wave.
Nice wagon - it's surprising to me how many 03 and earlier Subies I see on the roads, but maybe that's just because I'm looking for them now that I have my car.I was just heading in to work, I spend 4 days out of every 8 answering 911 and talking to fire/EMS crews out of the dispatch center off 36 Street just south of McKnight. |

Nice to meet you then.
![]() I think you're the 2nd person to wave at me. Usually other Impreza's think I'm crazy when I wave at them, unless I know the person. See you around. |

Converted VW owner Just imported my 06 STI from MT, only up to half way into the break-in after the trip from MT, great feeling to be sitting in an STI and knowing your in the game at least.... unlike the VW.
