Default Salt Water Aquarium Stores?

Just moved here and I wanna pick up some new corals/fish, what places do you guys recommend? I also noticed a 4 inch hairline crack starting to develop (from moving I think), can someone name a decent custom aquarium places also?

The only one that I know of is Big Al's in Burnaby. Here's a link I found about them:

My dad is into salt water aquariums too haha... so I can list a few :

J&L aquatics...
King Ed
Big Al ( exp. and a rip off in my opinion ^^)

there are a few in richmond too.. but since u said u are lookin' for coral...
i would suggest J&L aquatics

it's right across from the SFU skytrain station... ( i meant the station at the base of SFU)
http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/s...s/mainpage.php

hope this helps...

I would think this goes without saying...but don't fill that thing unless you want a mess in your living room.

The hairline crack will get bigger and the tank will explode. It's only a matter of time.

Another good store is Hidden Reef in Abbotsford...they have a large selection of fish and corals.

It's an addictive, and expensive hobby. I have a 46 gal bowfront setup with about 50lbs of live rock and several different corals. It's a great piece of decoration and a very poor investment! Any one want to buy a complete setup?

Take it easy,

Malcolm

I'll second/third the JL and Hidden Reef suggestions. Besides those two, only one other store worth mentioning: http://oceanaquatics.com

Good prices, good quality corals, fairly knowledgable staff. Horrible website. Crappy store location.

Lougheed & North Road, you're looking at Petcetera where the supermarket is (avoid), or Big Al's (expensive, but much better).

Hahahahahahaha; **** this is awesome. Since were on the topic of aquariums, anyone wanna post theirs up? I'm running something called a nano cube from JBJ lighting, its 24g and I don't think I wanna make it get any bigger; I'm planning on getting a custom cube with everything hiddin away with a sump/fuge, but I guess that depends on money. School is gonna rape me alive.

Isn't it not cost efficient to colonize your own fish? Why don't you feed feeder-fish from the stores?

It's actually not that bad. You can watch them breed and grow...... and then got eaten Feeder guppies are not cheap from stores also.

Well it finally happened today; my aquarium cracked. Luckily I was in the other room when I heard the tinkle then crash and quickly saved most of my corals/fish. I felt so sad... the firefish I had was almost crushed by a piece of live rock. Eh.. I think he'll be okay they are all chilling in a bucket right now. But yeah thanks for the general advice everyone, I have to head out and get a new tank.

just wondering... how big was ur tank ?
and was it glass or acrylic?

i am assuming glass ?
acrylic shouldn't have cracks

http://www.jbjlighting.com/sys_24g_nanocube.html

I had one of these, THEY ARE NOTORIOUS for cracking. But I have yet to find another commercially available all-in-one aquarium design that looks this good. All in all it had its good run with it, but I think i'm going to get a custom aquarium going ASAP.

http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/inde...hl=custom+cube

Something like this maybe.. I want an all inclusive tank with a sump/fuge on the bottom, cause i'm not really digging the equipment hanging off the back. I really like the clean look of a perfect cube
