Default who can help? H6 heads - cams reground and porting

I need some direction.
Are there any vendors out there that feel they are competent enough to work with the H6 heads?
I just picked up a motor and I want to build it.
I already have the shortblock covered but I need help with the heads.

This is a non AVCS motor

Should I replace valves?
Should I have the cams reground? ( i am assuming there are no cams available)
Porting?

Is it way to much of a hassle to deal with these things seeing as how it seems this is relatively new to most and there isn't a lot of support in this area?

Any info would be much appreciated.

No problem. You and Jeff are the only ones currently who I would trust taking info from on upgrading the H6 motor.

So are you up at PDX now?

Dustin, Jarrad and I can all weld so that shouldn't be a problem. Hit me up with a PM or on AIM and we can discuss it so we don't pull this too far off topic

thanks

I'll definatly give them a call and see what they have to offer.
I guess what I am wondering is if is cost effective to do all the head work to the motor at this point.
It always seems that when you are one of the first to modify something that it always costs an arm and a leg. Then a year later, enough people have done it that vendors start offering parts and labor for cheaper. Or you find out that all the work you have done is only gaining you slightly more power than if you would have just kept it stock. (case in point - my last build made 678whp but cost me over 20k and a lot of headwork to get and then I find out that you can get 600whp with just cams ie. Phils car from Element tuning )

What is the case with this motor?
Or is it too early to tell?

Lets hear some more about this, I don't want to bother PDX tuning with questions that are already being asked, so please do update when you hear back from them,

I talked to Jeff Perrin on friday about the h6 motor. From what I could gather He knows what he is talking about when it comes to this engine. Obviously the bottom end of this motor needs to be built but does the top? This is what I was trying to find out from him. He seems to think that the heads of this motor are already set- up pretty well from the factory. Since it comes non turbo from the factory the intake manifold, ports and valves are decent size to flow as much air as possible without aid of being forced in by a turbo. Also the factory cams have quite a bit of lift. He did say however that the factory springs should be replaced as they are not that stiff. Obviously any porting work can only help with power.

Here is what I found in looking at the set of H6 heads I have in my garage-

Keep in mind these are non AVCS so specs may be different from AVCS heads

The intake and exhaust valves are almost identical to sti valves in size (maybe a few thou different, i didnt measure)

The springs also appear to be identical to sti springs in diameter in height and in strength.

I think that I may just keep everything on the top end stock (except for some porting) and see how she does. I can't justify spending a whole bunch of money on a set-up that appears to be very good from the factory.
