Wow Kris, your car is a total monster now! Folks, stage 2 on a 2.5 is a very different thing than stage 2 on a 2.0... <--- for me. Kris and I drove each of our cars back to back and his has gobs of TQ even off boost in 2nd. That is where the 2.0's fall short... The 2.5 makes driving around town so so so much nicer. And his Magnaflow exhaust is rather nice as well.

Which downpipe did you get? How difficult is it to install? So far, my automotive "experience" tops out at installing springs, brake flushing, etc.

You're in Calgary, right? Maybe I can get a ride in a Stage2 '06....

It'd probably cost you less to sell your car and buy a used STi here or buy a new '06 WRX from the States.

I agree. And also, the 2.5L swap will bump you into open class... just confirmed that on specialstage.com.

EDIT: an 06 WRX is legal for P4 though... hmmmmmm.....

Not a problem... he can always sell the parts if he lets the car go or just buy the car out at the end. In that situation though, you just gotta make sure you retain ALL of your stock parts.

well yeah, but when you take it in for service, 30k, 45k , or whatever it is.. and they notice a downpipe, etc.. well that could definately bring up some serious issues. it would be a different story if you own, then its your car, not theirs.

Good point. I guess that's why I kept my car stock until my warranty/lease was up. For me though it wasn't so much a lease issue as it was a warranty issue but I guess it could be a lease issue as well depending on to what degree they are willing to turn a blind eye.

all of the above.

usually i price out online from big sites then start looking for the deals or distributors that will deal wholesale for my company then go from there. second hand can be a score for a lot of little as well as big things too.

yeah it is tough.. you have 2 options.. screw the warranty and go no holds barred.. or wait till its up..

lots of great places to get good parts,, like smokeshow said, all of the above.

on a side note in regards to 06WRX: , I know "people" from subaru frequent the forums, and well saying "oh I just did this, did that, etc" on a leased vehicle, probably isn't the smartest thing to do.. just looking out for you.

Yeah my car is leased but i intened to buy it out, i still have ALL of my stock parts so if at any time i need to put it back to stock no problem. For some it is a warrenty issue but considering i do all my own work anyways it doesnt really matter if anything goes i just pay for parts and i upgrade anytime somethign goes anyways so warrenty replacment parts dont intrest me. Besides i talked to Subaru before i did my exhaust and the only part of my warrenty it voids is the part about if my exhaust goes they dont replace it so no issue there, my engine and tranny are still covered. so i guess if you do your home work it really doent matters its not like i put a new turbo in my car right...

As far as where i personally get my parts, many have heard me say it but Bobby at Tunerworks has gotten me great parts at a great price for most of my stuff, rims, short shifter, bushings, AP, tires, springs etc. none from ebay at this time, guages are from a member here and down pipe was from a local guy here and my cat back i bought off a member in NJ total i think i have about **** invested including rims for parts on my car. shopping for a valentine V1 now radar detector and considering a new turbo for next summer and fmic but that depends on if i buy a second car next year or not.

I mean it really is up to you what you want to do to your car leased or bought it is still your car and you are still paying for it it either belongs to the bank or you, whatever you do to your car as long as Subaru cannot prove that it was the cuase for the break down like say your tranny blew and you had a TBE on the car there is no way the TBE caused your tranny to blow therefore it is still covered under warrenty but if you muffler rusts out it wont be covered. This is what i was told by a Subaru Employee that i trust. and really who cares i know a guy with an 06 that did a $20,000 build on his car the week he bought it really its your choice so please dont roll your eyes at me i dont appreciate it, it is my car and i like it the way i have it and nobody has the right to tell me im wrong because it is my car. Thank you for all the compliments and i will be proving power at the dyno in july....

also thanks for looking out for me but weather i post it or not really the second they see my car they know its not stock, and thats fine, i mean i guess there is the issue of them going hey you have blah blah blah done to your car dont you? then i go prove it... they still have to prove it to say anything. but i do see your point... i guess i will now silently mod my car and give you guys no more heads up ill just beat your pants off one at a time at the track... just joking i know a few of you could still kill me any day

The fact of the matter is this.. increasing boost on your car = void warranty, plain and simple. So if something goes wrong, in your engine,, = " I have an accessport "... well chances are they aren't going to be replacing anything.

I have been thru this a million times, the minute you put something on your car that isn't stock, well you are SOL. We don't live in edmonton, and SOC isn't mod friendly unlike the dealership up north.

like I said, not trying to put you down, or rag on you, etc, just looking out for you, because as I said, they do monitor the forums, its not as easy as "oh, I have problem, better put the stock stuff back on, and take it back to the dealership".

Screw it Kris... just mod the hell outta the damn thing. If it goes "kapop", just sell the mods, buy a new engine with the money, and go back to stock. Thats what a guy back east did when his went "kapop". Ends up being the same thing as if you blew your "own" engine (i.e., not a leased engine).

Personally I waited to mod and now I wish I hadn't. Although by the time I decide to mod most of the bad mods had been weeded out by others. Whatever you do, just don't be the guniea pig. Learn from the failures of others.
