Default Proper use of the handicap placard.

In Connecticut they have the handicap placard that hangs from your rearview mirror. These things are pretty big and definitely obstruct your vision when hanging from the mirror yet every day I see numerous people with these things hanging from their mirrors driving around.

If you are so handicapped that you can't take down the placard when you get in the car then you probably shouldn't be driving!

Some of these folks are so handicapped that they have trouble driving, why add the additional visual obstacle?!

Let's not even get into the people who aren't handicapped that use the things.

I bet most people who have them are confused elderly who forget to take it down... or just forget they are driving all together and think that they're watching Driving Miss Daisy and some wide, flat man in the front row wont sit down.

You're kidding right? You're using a handicap placard to park in the handicap spots and you aren't handicapped?

my old roommate had one, and was not handicapped, we pulled into a packed mall parking lot one time IN FRONT OF A CAR TRYING TO TAKE THE SAME HANDICAPPED SPACE, and he pulled it out, and was like "limp"

ever since then, i refused to go with him if he was gonna use handicapped parking, call me a bitch, but there has got to be some serious negative karma tied to that.

If that is the case then there are a lot of people who don't bother to read the things. I swear on my commute I must see five or six people every day just blazing along happy as can be with the things hanging from the rear view.

So, what is your alternative had you not taken this route?
