Default Resolved: My 2.5 month ordeal with EDSWRX (Edwin K. Shaw): Irresponsible Seller!!

Update as of 7 June.
I just received a USPS Priority package (postmarked 5 June) with the following items:

1. EGT Probe
2. Oil Sandwhich adapter
3. Oil Temp sensor
4. Wiring harnesses

The 3rd control box was not sent. I PM'd ED about this issue and awaiting a response.

Thanks ED.

Update as of 5 June.

Ed PM'd me on 2 June stating that he had shipped the remaining items by USPS sometime "this week" (last week now). I asked him for tracking info or even a date they were shipped and he never sent me the info.
__________________________________________________ ______________

Here are some highlights of the story :

1. 14 March: Paid for some Omori Gauges on that were advertised by EDSWRX in this thread. Payment was made using paypal funds, not a credit card, which I found out later was a mistake.

2. 28 March: EDSWRX responds to my PM inquiry as to why the gauges have not been shipped yet and the absence of atracking number. States the gauges will be shipped as soon as he returns from some work emergency due to the recent change in immigration law and riots.

3. 9 April: Received PM from EDSWRX on stating that the mechanic forgot to include some critical parts of the gauges. Stated that he would ship those out as soon as possible.

I received the Gauges and pieces of the harnessess. There were parts missing from the harnessess, probes, and sandwich adapter.

As of today, 1 June, the missing pieces have not been received. He promised a tracking number over a week ago, but no tracking number was received. I PM'd him and he has not replied to my inquiry even though he has been active in NASIOC in the Mid Atlantic Forum, Pittsburgh Thread.

From the onset of the deal, EDSWRX has given me 4 or 5 different excuses: Two Car wrecks, 4 Days in the Hospital, Food Poisoning, Work Emergencies, College Finals etc....

At this point, there really isn't much I can do. Paypal will not do anything since It's been so long since the issue does not qualify for a chargeback ( I did get merchandise from him, but not as described or agreed upon).

I did PM the Admin for the Pittsburgh Forum (Matt) for assistance, but have not received any feedback from him.

I'm screwed, unless EDSWRX decides to hold up his end of the deal, and ships the rest of the parts to complete the gauge package.

Moral of the Story:

Being a long standing member and a active contributor to the NASIOC comunity does not equate to being an honest and dependable seller
.

I have been very patient while dealing with this issue.

So, does anyone out there know what I can do next? He has been emailed, and PMd about this issue in numerous occassions, but all I get is excuse after excuse. I have all electronic correspondence fron Edswrx.

I'm tired of it, and would like Edwin to fix it.

Paid with funds I had in paypal from other sales.

Well, I posted a thread in the MAIC forum since he did not answer my PMs and email for a long time. Everyone there said he was a good dude. He's been on NASIOC for a long time, so a lot of folks know him.

Hey, I'm really sorry about the delay. I got into an accident about 2
weeks ago and spent 4 days in the hostpital. I am now trying to piece
the last 2 weeks back together because I am graduating college this
week as well. I'm sending the units out as soon as possibly can.

Hey, sorry I have not been able to respond as quickly, its been the
month of hell with work...sorry. I have the thirs controller to send
you for the egt witht eh probe, because they were never installed,
they were kept seperate and were forgotten, I have not tried hooking
up a single controller to the gauges either, I know that they will not
light up if at least teh control box is connected, but now that I
think of it, I see no reason that all three gauges cannot be connected
with a single unit. The cut wires were mainly just from when everyone
was uninstalled, I can find the wiring diagrams for you as well
online, I had to use omori;s and several personaly websites to hook it
up, but mainly its 2 grounds, 2 power lines per gauges, sensor
fittings and the color control connector.

Hey Ivan,

I'm sorry I have been MIA for a few days, the past week has been hell
for me. Because of the recent immigration bill that has been passed,
rioting has been erupting all over the country as you can see, well
one of the largest placest of conflict was down near my companies
piers in LA. We had vandels break into our shipping yard and cause a
logistical nightmare for me, I have been in the warehouse with no
internet or sleep trying to reconfigure 4 ships of Ford products, I'm
sorry I have been away for so long but it was an emergency which has
already cost our company millions, I know this has nothing to do with
you and I'm really sorry about the delay, I am currently sitting in
the LAX airport waiting for my flight back to Pittsburgh and drive
back to State College to make an exam in the morning. I will have it
sent out as soon as I get back to my home.

Should have bought new.... I bought a boost gauge off a kid once, it was missing some stuff like adapters and mounting bracket, so I went to the auto parts store and ebay and bought what was missing and made it work, cus it was used. And it looks like edswrx bought it used too.... You got the guages, be happy you got that, I have paid and never received on Ebay a couple of times! Now if he said he would send them, he prob has, or will.

wow...i've been lurking threads for awhile now and I can't believe how much people defend a guy even though he has very obviously screwed someone. So the guy should be happy he sent anything at all! If thats how it works then just take down the whole for sale section because it would be useless...how about I sell you some gauges and send you a ham sandwich after you pay me. Also it never fails to amaze me that at least a handful of kids with rich parents go on to chastise the victim and tell him he should have bought the part new. hmmm...thanks for the advice buddy....i'll remember that when you post something in the for sale section. all in all the guy has a point in that just cuz you know the guy and he's been on here forever doesn't justify what he did. aiight...my useless 2 cents is spent.

This is not a bash just an observation from a third party...so flame me please and show me what kind of character you are.

The gauges were advertised to be in working order and some of the pieces had never been used. The seller stated that he had the missing pieces and was going to send them but never did.

Why should I be happy I got parts that I can't use? The parts in question can not be bought at Schucks. They are Omori specific that can only be purchased directly at a high cost.

I've done a lot of business on NASIOC and I know the risks of buying used. I posted his to raise awareness for other potential buyers.

Thanks latchkey:

That's NASIOC for you... classic. I've been here for a while, since 2003, and have seen a lot of BS on the FS forum.

I would be content if all that was missing was an EGT sensor or a stupid bracket. We're talikng about a harness and a color controller necessary for proper installation and fnction. Both of wich are considered part of the gauges if purchased new.

Later....

I suggest you read your email. I posted it on this thread. You even admit to having it. The haness may be the EGT sensor, but I wouldn't know since I don't hav instructions for the gauges.

Wow, much angst...Ed is just a busy guy who gets around a lot. Maybe it's hard to imagine but sometimes it's hard for someone who travels a lot to keep well connected to friends and people all over the place.

The reason so many people back Edwin is because we all actually know him, it's not like we're random people that have bought stuff off of him, we are his friends.

That being said, I am sure the situation will work itself out.

hmmm...I'm sure Ed is a standup guy if he has this type of backing...I guess I've been reading the scammers pages all at once and making a generalized comment...since I don't know either Ed or the victim here I must still side with Amoilaito...there just seems to be to much evidence that there is foul play. ahhh well...karmas a bitch...hope everything works out like it should.

I'm not here to bash on EDSWRX. As I stated on a previous thread related to this issue, (which you posted on). I understand that **** happens, however, it shouldn't have taken over two months to ship a small box. Nowadays shipping is soooooo easy, one doesn't even have to pack it, just take it to kinkos, dhl, post office, ups, mailboxes etc.....

I also stand by my friends, and it is commendable that you guys are willing to do that for Ed. But, I'm not his friend nor do I know him personally. All I have to go by is the electronic exanges that I have posted in this thread.

Am I overreacting? Maybe, but I'm the one that ended up with $500 Omori Paper Weights. As you can read from the posted correspondence he is aware of the issue and my attempts to correct it. I have afforded him the opprtunity to do so and it has taken this long for him to ship the items identified as missing.

Ha ha...I guess it's because I know him, he is just very aloof. It took him 2 months to pick up my clutch if it makes you feel any better, but he came through in the end. I think of it this way.....Ed was teaching me about patience, lol.

its unfortunate that this all had to happen, and that people can be taken advantage of so easily, in my opinion, if your going to sell something, you post the parts for sale and package it up and get it ready to ship out, not slowly dismantle the parts as convenience strikes you when somebody has paid and is waiting, patients is waiting a month, not well over 2.

I was just kidding as I too am fairly impatient. I guess it's different as my car isn't a daily driver. I know Ed feels a little confused and bad about this situation and he has told me he is trying to make everyone happy.

Peace and potato grease,
Justin

I know the kid too, he is far from a scammer, he has no reason to be. From Hanging out with him right before he got rear ended it has been a busy couple months and he had no idea that he was get rear ended, get hives, be called to LA by the company he just landed a job with and graduate from college when he decided to sell some stuff. and as Justin said I bet he is trying to make it right.

Just remember kids, NO ONE IS PERFECT! its always something, life is not smooth and easy, if it was it would be boring!

Ive sold things online and I had "to make things right" even though it wasnt my fault, the buyer cryed like a little baby because it wasnt the exact part he thought it would be. I posted a part for sale, and ten minates later he said check is in the mail, I hadnt posted any pics had a very basic description and had other offers, sold it to him, he got it, waited a week to open it, and then decided he didnt want it. Never at one point did he ask for more info, or pics. Other people I knew called it the same thing that I listed it as, he said I was false advertising, I found two other links through these boards and even a listing on ebay that called the part the same thing that I advertised it as. I was so flaming mad that I keep searching and finding threads that refered to the part the same as I did, and kept pming to him. being the better person I waited till i got the part back, and then sent him his refund, which took him two weeks to cash! as you can tell I am still mad! ok im done

Even if the seller is a stand-up guy, he dropped the ball on this one pretty good. Hope you get all your parts OP.

OK, you're way off on this one. In my case the seller PM'd me that he knew parts were not sent in the first package before I received it. He knows that I was expecting the parts and he agreed to the description of the parts missing.

Call me crybaby if you like, but there really is no caveat to this issue. I was promised parts that were never received, what do you call that?.

Read the emails and PMs I posted, it's all there. I'm not making any of this up.

I agree he did, and in my opinion he explained himself.

Quick update:

Ed PM'd me on 2 June stating that he had shipped the remaining items by USPS sometime "this week". I asked him for tracking info or even a date they were shipped and he never sent me the info.
