If smooth flow matters, you don't want press/crush bent pipes. So, yes. If you are going to invest all the money and effort in a front-mount intercooler, why cut corners?

i agreel, mandrel bent is the way to go for free flow thru the intake...turbulence is bad and caused by kinks in the piping.

Mandrel all the way...something as important as an intercooler (a front mount no less!) should have as smooth airflow as possible.

Crush bending just involves clamping the pipe and bending it. Crush bends generally put kinks in the pipe which cause turbulence in whatever flows through it. Mandrel bending uses a round plug (a mandrel) inserted into the pipe and moved along within the pipe to always be at the point being bent. This keeps the inside of the pipe smooth through the entire bend.

Might I suggest making use of a good search engine ( like Google ) in the future? You will be able to answer just about any question you have much more quickly.

Turbulence in Intercooler piping heats the air marginally. I went with mandrels. I dont think I've ever seen pinch bent intercooler piping! Hopefully I never do!

cost 2000$ CDN ....and I can't affort that much...just for piping

what kinda FMIC do you have ? I'm getting my front mount this week and also have my top mount spearco for sale including a greddy BOV and turbo-IC ceramic coated pipe. give me the dimensions for the core you have and also the maker.
BTW , all you need is to buy mandrel bend (U-bends)/hoses/clamps and get someone to your garage with a pipe cutter and tig welder and the piping should be done in a day or two.

well I got a couple of guys ahead of you wanting to buy it , I will not sell it till my engine is ready in a couple of weeks. it'll be $500 for the polished IC / greddy BOV and ceramic coated turbo/ IC pipe. the IC is not as wide as the minnam but thicker and flows as much air and charge temp stayed good even at 12 psi on a larger turbo than the minnam one. pm me if want to call dibs if you don't mind waiting.

I doubt you are running very much boost on a Minnam kit. Here is what some of the DSM people have done. Go to a place like Jeggs or Summit racing and buy sections of Mandral bent exhaust pipe. Try to figure out what bends you need. The pieces are generally ~$10USD each depending on size and bend type. Then buy Silicone connectors to hook it together. These pieces can be expensive but you can do it for a lot less than $2000CDN.

Give it a shot. If you want, later you can get a shop to replace the pieces of silicone with more pipe and weld it in.

Will not look like a perfect piece, but who cares... function over looks.

I wouldn't mind do the custom piping myself but
my fron IC has to modify as well
I don't know...I will think it over...

what other shop or manufacture makes top mount for
RS that will fit with the minnam kit?
