Default Problem with ecuFlash on 06 STI

I have install ecuflash 1.27, have the openport 1.2 cable, and it is reading it as com4 which is selected on ecuflash.

I try to read the rom from the car with the ignition on selecting 05-06 Subaru DBW STI/WRX/Legacy and it gets an error vaidating the kernal

Anyone know what is going wrong?

You're probably doing it wrong. Did you connect the green test connector? Did you turn your ignition on JUST before you hit the "ok" on the read rom confirmation dialog box in Ecuflash?

It does sound like your COM port is selected correctly.

Has the car been reflashed at all?

I have a second problem now.

It seems to read fine and finishes, however under parameters, there are only two ignition maps (A and B which are exactly the same) and nothing else. Is this an issue with it being an 06 or am I just doing something wrong here

Also, the ecu is stock, no reflash of any kind
