Default Need some romantic ideas

So it will be my 2 year anniversary with my gf soon...anybody have any good places or ideas for a gift? I dont wanna do the jewelry thing, everyone does it. I was thinking maybe go to Millenium Park and then some restaurant. Anybody know some good restaurants around there that are not super expensive? Any ideas appreciated...I suck at this kinda stuff lol

Why not a cruise on the lake to take in the Chicago skyline? A romantic picnic in the park perhaps? How about a plane pulling a banner saying "baby...isn't this plane cooler than some silly ring or necklace??? XOXOXO"

Do you want a gift for her or a gift for you two to do together? If you're just looking for a gift for her, then a spa package or gift certificate is rad. My wife IS NOT a girly girl, but was given a spa package from her co-workers for her baby shower a couple years ago. She loved it so much I got her a package for our 5 year anniversary, and she loved it. Anniversary gifts don't need to be crap they don't need...they're better off with the thought. She'll always remember a whole day spent pampering herself, and who gave her the gift.

I think for our 2-year Greg and I did dinner at Rosebud on Rush and then a horse-and-carriage ride around the city. It was fun--we got all dressed up and everything.

We've done Melting Pot numerous times too. Yummmm...

Brian does other shows, not just the donkey one. His skills are numerous and widely varied

Warning: Mushiness ahead...

This one worked really well for me.

Get her a Hot Air Balloon ride at sunset or sunrise. That takes care of the "gift" part. Then when you're up in the air, the scenery is great and the moment is good but its a little cool at altitude. Surprise her: Break out the blanket and wrap it around her shoulders, break out some After Eight hot chocolate and whatever snackfood she likes. Picknic in the sky...

Whether it goes well or not, it'll be one to remember and the brownie points are off the chart...

[/ End of mushiness]

Ok, let the flaming begin, I can hear it already...

Good lord Vince!! :barf:

SigmaRacing, that is a good idea provided the weather's right and neither of you are afraid of heights!

In all honesty, sometimes the little things are the best--not much fanfare needed. One thing that stands out in my mind is when Greg showed up to pick me up one time with a single pink rose--one he'd cut from his mom's rosebushes (with her permission) and stuck into one of those little water-filled vials. No special day, nothing done wrong, just a sweet gesture. Even my dad said something to me about how sweet it was (he was at the door when Greg arrived).

Ok... I'm done being girly.

Not too many people know about the angry pirate. You must have seen "the list" too.

Take her for a "fun" drive around in the WRX, then proceed to buy her a coke and a hotdog at a stand on the way home and pop in an old movie and call it good. Good luck!

go to a book store and buy "eat this book" by Tyler Florence.
Pick out a dinner, a side, and dessert in the book.
go to a grocery store and buy everything you need to make them.

Write her a poem or a letter telling her how you feel about her. Send it in the mail so that it will arrive on or before "the day".

make plans for her to come over on "the day". Don't let on that you have anything cooking.

Ask her to bring a movie. Tell her that it's her pick.

Make sure you have everything done before she get's there.

She'll thank you for the letter you sent
you'll eat the food you made
you'll watch the movie she picked
then you'll do exactly what she wants for the rest of the evening. Wink wink.

Good luck
