I got a few questions to ask, and i kno i may sound like a nub, but this has just been on my mind.

1. I have a 2002 2.5rs, 5 Speed Sedan. For me the car is great; fuel efficiant (i drive over 200 miles a day), good looking (well mine is, i did a 04 STi body conversion) and overall i love it very much. The only thing i wish for it, is if i could increase my power and or make the acceleration better, all without changing alot or spending a huge amount of cash. soo heres my question... Whats the best modification(s) i can do to increase power for my car, without changing the integrity of the car...(another words, without changing the engine, drivetrain....) for under $1000. Also whats the best if money wasnt an issue?

2. Second question really shows how much i dont know about mechanics.... What is engine management? Could i do this for my car without killing it?

lose the 3 inch exhaust, way too big for our na application. you could get headers and a hi flow or track pipe for probably somewhere around a G. That would definitely help a bit.

I also definitely recommend engine management, there are a few options out there, perfect power, i speed (i think thats a reflash, but still).

I find this truly pathetic! Give yourself a break. Go visit RS25.com or i-club.com. You will find people who feel less 'Holy then thou...' This site can be pretty much a joke most times.

You F*****G n00b!

forgive the rest of these guys

i'd maybe lose the 3"exhaust the money u can make with that +the 1000 i'd get a full 2.25 exhaust system from headers back if u dont' plan to do much more with the car. If your looking to do more later crazy n/a id get a 2.5 full exhaust once agian headers back.
if u wanan keep your exhaust or implement the idea above and go a bit further i'd get a Perfect power 6 engine management. this is a good device because it kicks in only at higher rpms adn at WOT which means u still get everyday reliablility suring daily leisure driving.

Also better more "open" exhaust system could possibly save u a bit more gas too

2.5 N/A w/ full exhaust

Here is the anwser you will find with a good search of this site.

The path to N/A power is:
COBB CAI - the short rams actually rob power as the effective plenum is too short. $100 used - $270 new
Light weight pulley - helps throttle response so the car "feels" faster. $75 from Mr Josh $275 from Unorthodox
Catback Exhaust - 2.25" is the max, otherwise you'll lose a lot of low end power - check with your local exhaust shop or $500 for brand name stainless steel
Headers and Hi flo cat - Let that baby exhale COBB/TWE/Rallitek new $600 - $700 - $500 used / OBX $275 requires addt work/$$
Cams - this requires better than average mechanical skill to stay inexpensive Delta cams $150 COBB/TWE $700
Engine Management - Perfect power pro from rallitek or a basic S-AFC setup PPP6 is $475 with 2 maps from Sean @ Rallitek
Port and Polished Heads - expensive $1000 - $2000 with valve job
04 or 05 intake manifold - for the highly skilled ???
Hi compression pistons - expensive but real power, requires a full engine rebuild. $700 - $1200

For your thousand dollars, i would do the following: be patient and buy a set of used EL headers and go to your local custom exhaust shop and price out a 2.25" exhaust. Sell your 3" to someone with a turbo.

Then find a used long tube intake InJEN or COBB (my preference) though the ebay ones work surprisingly well with some minor corrective work.

ON the Equal Length headers, you can get the OBX EL headers for $275 or so. Be forewarded you will likely have to do some modification to get it to fit properly which could cost you extra.

There you go N/A power at your fingertips.

Greg
