Default Studded Tires in CO

I'll be moving to Denver soon and had a question about snow tires.

I saw in the state police website that studded tires are legal in CO year round. I just wanted to confirm that with some residents. Do a lot of people use them?

I have my set from living in VT and was going to garage sale them, but if I can keep using them I might as well keep 'em.

Thanks!!

Very legal and very popular although not really needed except in the mountains. You would probably rather have a good winter tire without the studs because we take care of the snow pretty good here. It's usually gone in a day.

Excellent! Just what I wanted to hear. I'll just bring them out with me.

Thanks!

Yeah, I bought my car in AZ and proceeded to Ft.Drum, NY (About 70 mi north of syracuse, 30 south of the CA border). I got there in November with Falken FK-451's and oh my god, it was the scariest few weeks I ever lived when I had to drive that thing in the snow. It was like a rollercoaster where your ass was on the line if you (or anyone else around you) made a mistake. I only drove it a couple times when I had to until I got the snows, but a friend had an emergency and needed a ride to the SYR airport ASAP, haha, that was the worst white knuckle experience I ever had. It was 150 miles of round trip hell. It just happened to start a nice blizzard, and I am trying to get through it in ZR rated summer tires at a decent pace to get my buddy to the airport on time. Needless to say, it was a semi controlled slide the whole way. The next day I ran down to the tire store and bought some of the new Firestone snowtire, (made in the same place as the blizzacks, with similar compound but a helluva lot cheaper) It was like a religious experience, I could actually slide it around predictably everywhere instead of fearing for my life. Talk about a fun winter though, subaru + 4 snow tires + tons of snow = FTW!!! (I even towed about eleventeen cars/trucks out that winter, including my friends 4x4 jeep cherokee =0 )
