Default Gruppe-S GS650 Stage 2 Built Motor Group Buy!!!

Hello all,

We are pleased to announce the release of our second generation Stage 2 2.5L Short Block. The GS650 exemplifies all of our experience building and tuning high horsepower race and street engines. The GS650 has been installed on daily-driven cars that make over 600HP on the street, safely and reliably. These are the same cars that drive to the track, run sub-11 second times and are driven home. This block is capable of maxing out the GT35R turbo (ask MARKGSTI ).

The GS650 starts life as a regular STI shortblock. First we replace the weak hyper-cast stock pistons with custom spec forged units (coated). Not only are the pistons significantly stronger than the stock units the pistons are substantially lighter too. We then address the connecting rods. The rods are replaced with Helix forged H-beam rods held together with ARP L-19 bolts. The super-strong forged rods coupled with the best rod bolts available on the market allow for high RPM operation. The crankshaft is then modified with our proprietary techniques creating a crankshaft similar to the $2000 STI race crankshaft used on the WRC cars. The bearings are swapped out in favor of Gruppe-S coated race bearings. This addresses all the common main failure points of the stock STI 2.5 engine – spun bearings, cracked pistons, and damaged rods.

The entire assembly is then balanced. Piston walls are bored and honed, all tolerances are triple checked, and the assembly is professionally assembled. The end result is a big power engine that is capable of 8500 RPM operation* and holding 650 crank HP. That’s right, 165 HP PER A CYLINDER. The GS650 is purposely built to tight tolerances for street operation. You will not experience excessive oil consumption and you will not have a rocking issue with our pistons.

Recommended Limits:

-7500RPM redline**
-30psi boost limit
-650HP reliable horsepower limit

*”Looser” race engines (not recommended for street use) are available – simply let us know if that is what you are looking for.

**8500 RPM requires substantial modifications to the head, oiling system, and other components. We have experience building high revving engines, please contact us for additional details.

Features:

-Gruppe-S / Wiseco Forged and Coated Pistons
-Coated High Performance Rod & Crankshaft bearings
-Reworked Forged STi Crankshaft
-Helix Forged H-beam Connecting Rods w/ ARP L19 bolts
-Professionally balanced and assembled (recommended 7500 RPM redline)
-Rehoned cylinder walls
-Capable of up to 650 CHP Operation
-Final Displacement 2.48L
-Compression ~8.5 : 1

MSRP: $3599
Gruppe Buy Price: $3299

Price with 2.5L block trade in (must be functional and in good shape) - $2699

Thanks,

Geoff

To kick this off, we are offering a special group buy on this motor! Build time will be approximately 2-3 weeks from close of group buy. We'll require 50% down to hold your GB spot and we'll need 5 people minimum to carry it out.

Seriously, take a good look at what we're offering in this motor. Look at the quality of the components (if you need more information on them, please PM). Then look at the competition's components and pricing. Make your own decision.

For anyone who doubts the quality of this block, Mark's STi is running this exact same motor: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1023411

If you guys are looking to sponsor i would LOVE to throw one of these in my car. I wouldn't have a problem slapping a couple Gruppe-S stickers on my car . Seriously though this looks like a nice deal. I have just started looking around for built blocks since i got my turbo kit. I'm hoping that my stock bottom end lasts for a while, but i want to be prepared just incase it lets go sooner than expected.
What type of coating do you do on the pistons and does it cover the full piston? I was also wondering what it would cost approximately to have my motor taken out and the built motor installed.
Compared to some of the other companies it seems that you guys have a nice product with good pricing. Thanks in advance for answering my questions and i'm hoping you guys are looking to sponsor so i don't have to keep putting money into my car

Take care,
Steve

Sponsor or not, that's a bitchin' motor. I'm hoping to find a totalled STi around the time my motor needs to be rebuilt. Then I could have a drivetrain up to something like this. I'd hear some bad snap-crackle-pop action if I tried that bad boy in my car as it is now! :^O

Someday... :^D

Sponsorship would be great...lol My buddy does vinyl I'll put the biggest and most eye catching sticker on my STi And rip around the track as fast as I can.....

Looks like a great engine very streetable with the tight tolerances which is a very good point because the STi emptied my wallet and will keep emptying it for the next 3-4 years so I like most can't buy a dedicated track STi & do double duty.

Prices are really reasonable too especially with the core exchange price.

Hopefully I can save up sale a kidney and get on the list for one.

BUMP FOR A KILLER DEAL!!!

Matt

Hey all,

I apologize but at the moment, we can't sponsor anyone fully. But at this price, buying this block is like a partial sponsorship .

Hey Steve,

The pistons use Wiseco's proprietary coating and only the sides of the pistons are coated. If you'd prefer the tops to be coated also, we can send them out to Polydyne for you. A shortblock swap would be $1500. We would love to work on your car but unfortunately, we can't give away this kind of money for free.

Thanks,

Geoff

That's correct. If your stock STi 2.5 shortblock is in good shape, you can send it to us and we will rebuild it into this shortblock. Since all the internals are replaced, the only thing that really needs to be in good order are the block halves.

If no core exchange is done, the block is rebuilt. The block halves are inspected and cleaned thoroughly (hot tanked, etc.). These block halves are overstock from Subaru of Japan.

Thanks Geoff,

I actually had a tour of the Subaru of America main parts distribution warehouse and lets just say they had nearly a hundred complete motors in crates from floor to ceiling.
