Default 04RS > JDMEJ207 : which crossmember(s) ?

hey guys,
Im doing an 04 RS to a JDM EJ207.

I need to know which crossmember(s) i need to get, as I keep hearing differen't stuff.

Do i need the crossmember from a turbo impreza (02+) thats under the engine, and do i also need the one off of the transmission that will go by the downpipe? Is there any in the rear end I need?

Pictures would really help if anyone has any too.

Please let me know, I have 2 weeks before I start.

Thanks
-george

You only need the engine crossmember from a 02+ turbo Impreza. I've already replied to your thread on rs25... if you're really this confused about crossmembers you might not want to attempt a swap yourself.

You need the engine crossmember from a turbo platform (i.e. GD wrx)…

But to be honest; what a complete waste of time and money to swap an NA GD model when they’re already made in a turbo platform. You’re going to spend all this time/money on making that thing into a turbo platform, only to end up with an inferior vehicle to an original WRX.

Why not just sell the NA Impreza, then buy a used WRX version? If you still need the (JDM motor) just swap the short-block to EJ207…

Well to answer your question, i was able to pick up a jdm ej207 from a good buddy who owns an import shop for very cheap...since my RS is worth so little now, it would cost me more to pick up a GD WRX, than to run this setup. It's not only an engine swap, but ofcourse, transmission, brembos all around, entire interior, suspension all around, full exhaust & a couple aftermarket goodies...so it is worth my while.

As you can see from this post, im quite the noob. Without a doubt i have the money to send my car to a shop to get done and running properly, but I am attempting to do this by myself (with help with some local nasioc members) to learn more about mechanics. so yeah, hopefully you can see where im coming from.

not to be rude but that's not a swap for an amateur to be attempting. I hope that you have some very mechanically inclined friends because you are basically redoing the entire car
