Question Engine check light coming/going

Hi,
MY00 RS
Had TC II chip, Stromung with mid-pipe, Ganz CAI.
Added Borla header with heat wrap. Runs fine for
over a week(on 87 Octane reg. gas). Filled with
91 Octane premium fuel in the morning, noticed
check light on in the afternoon. Sat for the week end. Started car Monday morning,
no light, after fully warmed up driving on freeway,
light on again. Parked the car all day. Started to come home, no light and when it warms up, light on again. Next when tank goes empty, trying
with reg. fuel again. Car acts normal.
What gives? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tony

Did you have your 02 sensor replaced? There was a recall on it. Check with your dealership, and see if your VIN number is one that was recalled.

Mine does that when the knock sensor comes loose (long story)

It will loosen up and lose it's ground connection setting off the CE light, i tighten it up reset the ECU and it's fine.

The O2 sensor is another good place to look like Jademonkey said...

I had the same problem when I switched from 87 to 91 octane. When I took it to the dealer the code pulled was for the cat, apparently it thought it was running inefficiently and decided to throw a CEL. So it is not a big deal. I reccommend either getting used to looking at your CEL or get a band-aid to cover it up.

Another possibility, check the plug between the ECU and 02 sensors. I had all the service guys at my dealership stumped. Both 02 sensors read zero and kept throwing codes and the CEL light. After 4 new sensors, new cats, new headers, etc, they finally checked the plugs and found that they were badly corroded. After cleaning them off, no CEL light in over 1000mi.

Good Luck,
-Chris
