Default 06 VF39 Map Cel Problem

I just installed the VF39 setup in my 06 WRX. I'm running the 93 octane map.

The only mod I have besides what they list is that I swapped in an sti 6-speed gearbox.

If I go wide open in 6th gear, the car will overboost to almost 20 psi and I'll get the cel P0244 (wastegate performance).
Every other gear seems fine and I get about 18.5 psi.

I verified the restrictor pill with a #57 bit, which runs through the hole with a little rubbing, so I assume its the right size.

Could my gearing be throwing off the tune and causing too much boost?

My other mods are:

Invidia V3 DP
Fujitsubo RM01A Cat Back
STi Top Mount

I've gotten the P0244 cell a couple of times as well (5spd). I talked to the guys at cobb and they say that may be fixed in the new version of the maps they release? I hope that's the case, it's not a pleasant feeling with that thing hiccups under boost.

Try the PDXTuning maps. There have been several guys post up their results with the VF39 on the 06 WRX

LWG Map? If not just keep your foot out of it. Or spend some $ on some PDX maps like me.. .and have a killer running subie. There is hidden HP/TQ still, running less boost.

Bump.

I'm experiencing this now too. If I open it up in 4th It'll hit right at 18 and then it'll creep just ever so slightly and hit boost cut.

I had bought the restrictor pill from a VF39 when I installed everything but I just verified it's a .043 sized hole so that's not the issue.

Has Cobb released (unofficially) a LWG map for the VF39?

I have the invidia V3 DP and G200 cat-back.

I don't think a map will change anything unless it somehow removes the boost cut. Ya might wanna do a search for boost creep.

peace

Don't worry I'm very familiar with it...had to port my old STi...but target boost is supposed to be around 16.5 so a LWG map should help me hit that target better so if it does jump up a hair it won't hit the boost cut.

Instead of waiting for a map have it protuned...a tuner should be able to work the bugs out of it. I hate to call this a solution but I cant imagine designing an OTS map for a car thats has a different turbo and exhaust and expect it to work on 100% of the cars.

I've got the street tuner software. Waiting to see if I can just get the VF39 base map converted to .stb so I can just do it myself if it's really THAT hard to modify the OTS and make a LWG and HWG map the same way they did it for the STi.
