Default 2006 wrx cobb vf39 protuned results

Hey Guys,
I'll post up the dyno charts soon but here's the results.

Baseline (cobb's map):
peak HP 259
peak Tq 250

Protuned (by Chris@ XXTuning)
peak HP 265
peak Tq 295

There's an interesting story that goes with my car's tune. Apparently, Cobb's ots vf39 map was running considerably (almost dangerously) lean on my car and Chris had to richen up the afr. This was a surprise to me since I thought Cobb maps were pig rich.
The bad news is that as good as the 06 injectors are (nobody knows exactly how much they flow), the fuel flow was maxed out at about 5000 rpm. Assuming I install a better fuel pump and maybe better injectors I could really optimize the vf39. Right now my boost is safely limited to about 17-18 psi but I'll probably make this change sometime in the future.
The good news is that hp went up by about 25% throughout the entire powerband even though peak hp is up by only 6hp. Peak Tq went up by 45lb-ft and this difference is pretty much shown throughout the whole powerband too. The power delivery is smoooooooooth now too, it almost feels like a NA car.
My opinion is that it doesn't "feel" a whole lot faster than when my car was running on cobb's stage 2 map but I'm sure it has to do with the improved power delivery and I'm not getting the kick in the pants feel when boost comes on. It's also 90 degrees outside so maybe that's affecting the car's power? Let me know what you guys think.

My mods are:
STI tmic
VF39 (wrapped with insulation)
Helix DP
STI axle back

Cheers!
Joe

260whp as a baseline seems pretty low =\

All dynos are diferent Blah Blah Blah
What does a stage 2 STI run on that dyno? What about a protuned stage 2 STI?
With a protune and a VF39 shouldn't you be around 300whp similar to a protuned stage 2 STI.

No AVCS on the WRX if I recall correctly. This could also account for some difference vs. an STI.

=\ the injectors flow MORE then the STi's it has been tested and people DO know 100%. Everyones car takes to mods differently, and I wouldnt even bother boosting more thn 18psi on a VF39.

Someone with a stage 2 sti had protune done at xxtuning recently too. 287 whp & 321 tq.

Yeah, I thought the 06 wrx injectors flow more too, but apparently they couldn't flow enough to support more than 18psi of boost. I don't know of any other 06's that have done a dyno tune to compare my results with, but at the same time I did ask for a safe tune. So it seems like I should be able to come pretty close to 290-300whp if I were to upgrade my fuel pump at the least.

i was pretty sure th vf-39 runs out of breath anywhere past 18psi on a 2.5 block, after that your just blowing hot air =\. And I still dont get this thing wtih the injectors, theyve been flow tested, and no one else seems to be running that lean, maybe youve got an injector problem?

Can the 06 injectors be modded just like the previous years?

I dont see the point in that =\. Any way I just noticed something, your on a STi axleback, so your midpipe what is it? 3inch? or stock? Like from yoru downpipe to the axleback what size are you running? Also your TQ figures on your baseline, seem pretty low as well. What do stock Sti's dyno on the dyno you used? And you dont feel much of a difference except its smoother, well thats because of the TQ, but still it should pull hard now dude compared to stage 2, I mean its a pretty big jump lol. From previous posts thats like going from a 13.5 car to a 12.6 car.

And you talk about changing your fuel pump right? How is your fuel pressure when your accelerating at 100% throttle hitting target boost? Also dude with only 17-18 PSI of boost, I dont understand how your injectors are crapping out. Hell Stock STi injectors are Smaller then yours and there able to boost to 19psi comfortably on VF-39's. Man these subarus are weird, its like with one it makes gobs of power and pulls hard. Another with the same exact mods may be ALOT slower. tuning seems to be a major factor with these cars, also maybe the break in? Idk. It doesnt matter at all but do you have a TR or a WRX Base/Limited? And what was your build date?(if you can find that out)

No, a protuned STi should almost always dyno higher than a 05 wrx with STi tmic/turbo, since the STi has better flowing heads

I think you mean 06 WRX. And is it true that the heads on the STI are better than the heads on other 2.5L's?

Stock STi puts down 250-255whp at XX-tuning dyno according to Tony.

i dont know, but your tq seems kinda low though on the baseline. what kind of what kind of rear exhaust pipe/resonator do you have?

with the protune should be somewhere in the 280's at least. i will be getting my protuned soon by MZM and i will post the results soon, i hope mines isnt that low.Or it could be the dyno reads low.

I just recently had my 06 tuned and got 230awhp/297awtq on the stock turbo with a turbos xs DP,Cobb catback,Ebay TMIC and Ecutek tune,my torque number is nice and peaks at 3600rpm,do you feel the v39 put you into the horsepower range you are in at close to 260 or should it give more?Thinking of throwing a v39 on and getting it re-tuned,I would like to shoot for 260-275 range

There's several folks down here in Texas that are running the Cobb OTS map and the VF39/STI TMIC combo boosting right between 18 and 19 psi while running rich in 90 degree weather. Perhaps our humidity is a factor.

not to bring up a dead thread but holy god 297wtq on a stock turbo o_O ****ing christ man thats alot. with a vf39 I still would think youde get 280 at the wheels with a "protune" the TQ with your car shouldnt change or you may gain about 20.

something isn't right on your car. You should not be out of injectors on a vf39. I would have it checked out top to bottom.
