Default Shoud I Run STAGE2 w/ just UP and DP ?

planning to go stage 2, but thinking about keeping 1 cat as well as the stock exhaust for avoiding cops. should i go w/ just turboback or just UP and DP, are the difference big ?or i should better of going catless w/ UP and turbo back ? what are the differences ??

I think going turboback is plenty for stage 2. Then in the future move to a catless UP. I have a "high-flow" cat in my DP and I pass the sniffer (in UT) with only the one cat. EDIT: [Proof is below] Are the cops really bad in LA for noise ordinance? Is the LA for Louisiana, or S Cal?

Stage 2 with stock catback is fine. You're maybe leaving 5 on the table. Upgrade the axleback to an sti unit would be even better and keep noise levels down.

This should be fine. i ran this way for a year without a problem. When you decide to get the full TBE, you'll HEAR and notice the difference.

From worst to best:
Stock<UP<UP+DP<UP+turbo-back

Pick whichever one your budget allows. Stage 2 is fine with the stock axle-back (I'm running it), you're not limiting yourself much at all with it and you get to keep it nice and quiet.

*Edit: Didnt see the above post. Agreed. ^

I have a set of parts on order that I'm waiting on USPS to deliver. Its an AccessPort, a catless TXS up pipe, and a TXS Stealth Back exhaust. The Stealth Back is just the name given by TXS to a full TBE, minus simply the rear muffler/backbox.

I dont really see how having an aftermarket muffler vs. a stock muffler would net you any more than possibly 1-2 hp. If you notice, people who go from bonestock cars, to stock with merely an axle back gain little to no power on the dyno.

I think you'll be fine keeping the stock axle back, but think about replacing the midpipe and catpipe as well as that up/dp combo. It will sound fairly stock-ish, and still net you the ponies.

thank you for the replies ...
i live in SoCal.
i think if i go w/ a turboback, i would pick either the greddy sp2, maybe the evo 2.... dono yet, i picked these becoz it's sound level is low ....
in the other hand , how about a short ram intake? i've heard my friend has it w/out EM, n he said it makes a big diff, but i 've read some post saying that it's not good coz of it leans out the A/F.

The 02-03 WRX axle-backs are the mufflers you want to yank. Since then they are much More restrictive than the Newer WRX & STi axle-backs.

I'm running SPT 3" Catback with the Short Ram SPT as well. I still run 3 cats up>down>back. I plan on going high flow on the down and loose the up when I go to the GT30R upgrade. My buddy decided to catless with fake O2 sensors rigged in his 06 EVO MR. When we ride in his car it smells really bad with the windows down you get a buzz. If your driving long distance everyday I suggest holding on to 1 or 2 cats.

Oh really...

Show some plots. I'm curious to know how much more power is "a lot more than that stock garbage". Produce proof of significant gains, and I'll retract my post.
