Default WI install time

I am going to install a Aquamist 2d kit in a friends ride tomarrow, and am wondering how much time to set aside. SO how long did it take you diy-ers to complete a WI kit install. I know you can't tell me how long I will take to do it, just wondering how it took YOU, and I can get a rough estimate, I really don't want to spend another whole day working on the Z.

It could take 4 hours, could take a week... just depends on where and how you install everything. Noone is going to be able to answer this.

Exactly, it all depends on if you're going to need additional accessories/bolts/screws/tools ... to finish it properly. You could end up running back and forth to the auto parts store all day.

Trying to figure out the best place for mounting the different pieces and just trying to figure out what goes where might take you an hour or two. Not everything you're gona need is supplied with the meth kits that you buy.

So anywhere from an estimated guess of 3 hours to full day or two.

Reread and realize, I am asking how long it took others, I already stated that I know not a person could tell me how long I will take!

I know it could take years if I wanted.

Anybody who has done a complete install, how long did it take YOU, not me.

I have seen an install of a 1s system in 20 minutes (sorry for changing the system2d to 1s), I add this because you can use the same principle to the 2d:

1) Cable tied the water pump to any pillar he could find.
2) Rap the +/- cables and purple wires around the battery terminals.
3) Cable tie the manifold pressure switch to the any rubber hose.
4) Tee the boost sense hose to the boost gauge.
5) Thread the 6mm line with the inline filter into the water tank.
6) Punch a small hole in the silicon inlet hose and stuff the 4mm hose and water jet inside. Pull the 4mm hose until the hosetail of the jet sticks out of the silicon hose. Wind some duck tape on the 4mm hose to stop the jet moving.
7) Job done.

This was a done by a desperate guy before the race on a very hot day. He also used the next 5-10 minutes to trim some fuel amd ignition with his laptop, He eventually got his 12.98s 1/4, a very happy man.

DON'T ATTEMPT TO TRY THIS AT HOME.

Just completed my install of my Aquamist 2d last weekend. If I had to guesstimate it took me about 6 hours. Add three for the Spec-C tank in the trunk and the associated running of the float wiring and water lines. I wanted to have an absolutely professional looking install so I was completely anal about everything. I'll try for some pics and post them up for you so you see how I mounted everything.

please post pics...also, doesn't look like a very complete kit...no hoses at all...what size do I need? can I pick these up at the local autozone?

and the connectors, the hose just snaps into the orange plastic fittings? and this is secure enough?????

Thanks

We ended up getting some hose locally, but we are still searching for a m8 x .75 tap.

UnderDog has the tap too (806-284). That is a hard tap to come by here in the US. I tried 3 specialty fastener places here in Austin and all three were going to have to order it. I ended up just waiting for my 2D kit to show up.

The kit was missing the bag that contains both the hose and the tap, someone in the shop must have snagged it, the auquamist kits should come sealed with tape, hint hint.

I don't want to mention the company name, but they are 100% top notch and this is EXTREMELY unusuall of them, to make things better the owner of the company flew in the ALB. with hose, tap, and HKS knock amp in hand, then proceded to squeeze 635whp out of the Z @ 14psi on the dyno!

In short I would recomend the 2D kit, It took about 5-6 hours of proper catious installation. I am sure next time I install one it will be SUPER simple and MUCH faster, probably 3-4 hours tops. Considering all of the hang-ups over the last week getting the motor assembled and preped for installation this was the only part that went smooth (except for the missing parts which came the very next day).
