Default Preventive maintenance and parts

Because the replies could be useful to others I decided to make this a separate thread (with http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1024792 being the initial one).

So, I had the car looked at (rust does not seem to be that much of an issue) and now I am trying to identify some preventive items. Consequently, some questions:

What do I need to replace when changing the timing belt (other than water pump): timing belt guide, timing belt tensioner, harmonic balancer, etc? Or is it just the belt?

What do I need to do in regard to the rear breaks (they are pretty much shot): just replace the drums and the shoes or do other stuff (wheel seals, etc.)?

What would be the best source of parts for this rather basic Impreza? For example, I am trying to find front axel assemblies, but the local part stores only sell them piecemeal.

Many thanks!

p.s. I am searching the NASIOC forum archives and finding some relevant info, so sorry if this seems redundant.
