Exclamation I'm in... '06 STi

Hey y'all...

Just signed the paperwork for a 2006 STi today, picking it up on Saturday. Just came cruising through this site to read up on what I'm getting myself into!

I think I'll be the only STi in Airdrie, which is sweet, but it would be cool to get some info and stuff from this site and some Calgary members.

This car might take some getting used to... my first brand new car, and first car worth more than $20,000. No driving like an ******* for me.

Anyways, I'm Blaine... let's see how this goes.

hahaha yeah, I have been pretty lucky so far... I still have my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT, and I have gotten that thing going pretty good, I don't imagine this is going to be anything like that though... I'll wear light shoes.

Congrats. Keeping the car under 4000rpm during the break in is going to take tremendous willpower. Doing so after the break in is impossible. Enjoy your new car!

Congrats!

I hope you have better self-control than me--I've gotten two tickets (one in US and one in Canada) since getting the STI in December. I hadn't had one for so long that my record was totally clean and the cop thought it was my very first ticket .

With almost every road in airdrie being 30km/h, mainstreet is 50km/h and the two secondary roads (Big Hill/567) are 60km/h (after school hours), I think you'll spend a lot of time using the highway even if it is the scenic route!

Grats on the car, you will like it if my experience with the rex is any indication (4 weeks today). I live in Bragg Creek and work in NE Calgary. Wave to the Aspen White WRX with the Nabisco sticker in the lower left rear.

I totally gave the thumbs up to a guy in an STi last night... I must have looked like a retard driving my Grand Am, but still, it was a nice car anyways.

I will be driving through your town next Friday moring around 10 am in the twin to your car. I hope to past the 4000 barrier by then. Man its killing me. I got my 02 WRX second hand so there was no break in period. But so far so good for me, havent broken 5000 yet and only hit that one a couple of times. Cant wait to drive this car the way it was meant to be driven!

Cheers!

PS I will honk a salute as I drive by...
PPS 500 km to freedom

I think he's referring to 5000 RPM . I have to admit that only able to stay under 4000 rpm during break in about 99% of the time--OK, maybe 98%...95%...90%? .

Yeah, my break in period lasted until about 700 km's... until my brother wanted a go at my in his 2006 Dodge Charger R/T...

I think he learned his lesson.

Ya, I meant 5k rpm;s not klicks. I dont have near that amount of self control. Glad to hear things went well with the Charger. That is the car my best bud wants. I'll have to point him to this thread.
