Anyone with 17" Rims with +48 offset

I just have to know..... I'm looking at the 17" rims with a +48 offset in the GB section and need to know how well they will fit... anyone with experience with the 2000+ legacy's and such a smaller offset???

A buddy of mine has +50 offset and it just barely fits, so I'm thinking the +48 just won't cut it for the legacy (maybe for the Impreza).

Any implication for steering or suspension??

What the consensus?

I have a 43 offset and they don't rub on my Legacy. You should have no problem with 48 on yours.

i've got 17X7.5s with 48 offset, but on a MY99 Legacy. no problems.

You may not have to worry about the rims rubbing so much as the tires you put on the 17s. I'd bet you'd have marginal luck with 225 series or wider... but it also depends on your driving style. If you are Mario Andretti around every turn, yup, you'll probably get rubbing.

One thing to note is that our rear suspension is much differnt than the pre MY99s. So just because they dont rub, doesnt mean you wont.

Actually, with a +43 offset, I'm surprised tora isnt getting any rubbing. I wonder what series tire he/she(? assuming the latter) is running. She may also not be as an aggressive driver as some of us. Hard to tell since it wasnt offered.

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Our cars use a 16x6.5" (16x7 on the RS) with a 100mm bolt-circle and a +53mm offset. I believe that the RS uses a slightly lesser offset (to counter the extra width) -- something like +48 - +50.

I'm pretty well convinced that if you stay with a wheel that's 7" wide, and an offset in the +40s or better, the primary concern with rubbing will result from tire choice. YMMV.

And, remember, when you're asking about the diff twixt a +48 and a +50 wheel, you are talking about a difference of 2 mm! Talk about next to nothing...

another consideration is spring rate and how much, if any, the car is lowered. recommended offset is usually +48 mm or higher.
