Possibly Moving Out of FL, What to do With Car

Here's the deal:

I'm probably moving up to Virginia in August, and am trying to figure out my best options with my car. It's a Stage 2, with ERZ UpPipe/Downpipe (which I'm impressed with, for the price) and a Greddy SP2 cat-back.

I know that they do emissions up there, and my car in it's current form will probably be asking for trouble.

Now I have a few choices it seems.

First would be to move up there, and leave my car registered here for a while at my dad's or some such and take the chance of getting pulled over / use the 'I'm in college' excuse even though I'm 25.

Second, pull the exhuast off and maybe trade it for a stock cat-back, but we had to fabricate the cat-back to fit my Downpipe (was a japanese cat-back) thus I'd have to sell the DP/Exhaust together. I don't have the stock parts so I was thinking maybe a trade for stock + buyer pays some cash + install.

Third, trade the car, maybe for an 06 wrx as they seem to not be selling too well and I could probably get a deal. I'm pretty good on the car and owe about 1/2 it's worth, so I'd have a nice down payment for a new car.

Advice?

Cliffs: moving somewhere that actually does emissions checks / have stage 2 / what should I do?

Also I have a set of stock wheels/tires that i'd be willing to part with for very cheap as I can't bring them with me.

...keep the car registered in Flowiduha...mebbe....and if it is just an obdII check...and ya got no CEL's....no worries

Fairfax area -

I was thinking about the registration but really, in the long run, that might catch up to me. I'm not sure what kind of testing they do to be honest, but one look at the exhaust and they'd know it wasn't going to pass emissions.

I do kind of want a new car, too, but that's just me being greedy.

Go post in the Mid-A forum; I would bet they've got notably better advice about their own area than we do.

Well I'd need someone locally to do the swap, so that's why I posted here as well (that and pawning off my wheels/tires). Most of Florida is transplants from up north anyways =).

I'll post in Mid-A in a bit, just didn't want duplicate posts of a similar concept.

why don't you swap the parts in question when it's time to register/inspect the car & swap back afterwards? on my old jeep we yanked off all emissions stuff & it still passed the smog test, figure out how strict they are before you do anything rash like selling the car.
