Default Best way to check for boost leaks

i just intercooled my EJ22T with a saab intercooler, and im getting a hissing noise even at idle, with the custom piping im just assuming there is a leak somewhere.

also, on boost my boost gauge will bounce/flutter between a couple psi, while it builds and at full boost... my guess was that the turbo was working extra hard creating this, since the VF-11 on here is a very small turbo.

also, after going on boost i can get it to backfire really bad, which makes me certain im losing air to a boost leak causing it to run rich...

SO, whats the best way to test for this and find my problem? i tried spraying carb cleaner everywhere and didnt find anything that way.

THANKS

i found out that the hissing is the BPV leaking at idle (Which is normal with this BPV) if i clamp the line from the manifold to it it stops but then idles really low..

i still get flutter and my boost gauge still bounces... i think it may be the hose clamps im using, since they dont stay REALLY tight like i want them to

If you want to get it checked out, Take it to a shop who has a smoke machine... They'll charge you about 4-5 tenths....
