Most Excellent!! Now when are you gonna tint the back 5 windows?? Hides the car seat! Love the GT!! Mine's Glacier White and still has the rack. Skis, Boards, etc ,looks better than my Yakima and doesn't howl at 80mph.

Windows geting tinted Wednesday and the roof rack holes are being fixed Monday & Tuesday. It's nice to work at a body shop, one of my tech's is doing the roof for nothing and all I have to pay is cost on the materials. Got the springs ordered and will post pics when I get it lowered.

Looks nice.

Is that a Touring Wagon or just a NA wagon?

Man, that looks HOT! I have the identical car, too! I might have to get an estimate on what it would cost to plug the holes after the useless rack is removed...

Hmm....

Mine is basically useless as well, and it's starting to fade in some spots.

Mine's White though, and i think any modifications would probably show more on mine than a black one.

BTW, the image is so dark i couldn't tell it was a newer model!

Scooby2 - What do I think? I think it looks way better w/o the rack! I've always hated the fact that Subaru put a roof rack on a sporty car. Wasn't even optional.

I took the crossbars off mine almost immediately, so I think it looks a lot better. I'd have preferred to not have the rack at all, but, I admit, I have used it a few times.

I'd like to further commend you on an excellent choice in vehicles! Ya just gotta love a GT Wagon!

The only bummer is that its taking longer and more work than expeced. The side rail holes are a real bitch to weld up and the center holes are even worse due to the fact the roof panel is so thin it warps real easy...and being black it needs to be perfect. But I have the best bodyman around working on it for me (just a perk of the job). Should be done by Friday and I will post pics when it's done. BTW the white or red one would be easy because you don't see the imperfections as you do on black.

That's exactly why i'll probably never do it.

Brian Flanagan has also done this to his but he had the whole car repainted as well, greatly easing the effort of matching paint colors and contours while worrying about the surrounding coats.

It definitely looks cleaner without the rack! I can never do that however, since I can't live without my rack.

BTW, I noticed Scooby Doo hanging in the rear. Is he a permanent resident in the wagon?

Bob -

I am going to track down those roof-rails that all the wagons have in HyperRev... Body-color and bad-ass. But I do see from your pics that you use yours *much* more than I use mine, well, I have not used mine yet...

Looks great, Scooby2...

You are going to love this, but I want to put a rack on my wagon (although your's looks wonderful from the shots).

Having removed yours, does it look practical/posible to put one on a wagon that doesn't have it? You mentioned that the sheet metal was kinda thin - You must have had some reinforcement in there?

The metal on the sides is not to thin, you have to use whats called a gripsert or well nut to hold the side rails down, the center rails are just screwed into the sheet metal and don't move.

BTW anyone intrested in buying my old rack.
New from Subaru there about $180.00

Make me an offer
