Default Gauging interest.. possible meet Olympia/FT. Lewis Area

Almost everything happens up north. It's been a while since we had a meet south of Tacoma. Lots of subies down here and the weather is getting hot.

Post your suggestions, however crazy or far fetched they may be. I have a few possible places/activities in mind, but I don't know much about the area.

I'll update this thread once we get some Ideas and possible courses of action.

Later...

Ivan

OK, So far folks have suggested a few places:

1. Priest Point Park, Olympia
2. Spanaway Lake Park, Spanaway
3. Steilacoom Park, Steilacoom

I'M TOTALLY DOWN!!!! I just bought a bunch of chicken, porkchops and burgers!!!! All I need is a fatty grill and some beer!!! Amolaito PM me so we can work this out. I think that we should do it at priest point park in Oly. It is down by the water and has plenty of room. I would perfer a Saturday but sunday would work also. Then we could do a drive afterwards!!!!!

What's this park like? Is that the one down the street from the Spanaway HS and softball fields? We're looking for a place with lots of parking, general admission, and plenty of picnic areas and gazebos oh and some place for kids to play!!

Spanaway Lake Park is right off of Military RD and Pacific Avenue. Almost directly across the street from Sprinker Rec center. They have plenty of parking, covered bbq spots, a lake (So ppl can bring their boats if they wanted to), and a fairly big play area for kids. Also a few baseball fields if people wanted to play softball or baseball.

Places like Fort Lewis and McChord have some cool areas to hang out, but access is limited. I wouldn't mind hosting something on the base, but it can be difficult for folks that don't have access to the bases.

I took the kids to steilacoom park this weekend, very nicely redone. Very big place, but not a lot of shaded areas for BBQ.

Don't people just have to go to Main Gate and get a day pass?

It's not too bad, just go up, state your business, be on your way.

I might be down depending on where/when.
Any thoughts on Tolmie State Park? It's on the bay in Lacey, but I don't really remember the layout and if it has great parking. Odeezie was there somewhat recently, maybe he can chime in.

I have been to this park, a few years ago. Nice place.

Let's narrow down a place/location so we can start working on a date. I'm game for any of the above mentioned places. I have tables, chairs and a nice grill if needed.

Things have changed a bit in the last few years, maybe it's not too difficult anymore.

I'll check tomorrow to make sure it's easy to access.

In Fort Lewis we have American Lake Rec Area with swiming area and plenty of covered BBQ areas. Not to mention a very safe place to hang out. I can host this, since I live very close to it. There's also a lot of GIs and Airmen in this area, which make it easier for them
