Default STI ECU in an 06 WRX

Any chance this is a plug and play? I cannot get used to the throttle lag of the 06, and apparently there is no cure.. Since I read less about the problem in the earlier STI's, I got to thinking maybe I could swap ecus, and eliminate the problem. Seems cheaper than removing the whole DBW system... Anyone know if this might work?

I was thinking an older STI computer - I don't care so much about the boost curve, I just need to make the car safer and more drivable by fixing the throttle response. I almost went into a ditch yesterday on my dirt road, cause the car didn't slow down and transfer weight when I let off the throttle.

I imagine removing the DBW completely would require a Motec or another complete standalone unit. It doesn't seem possible with the stock ECU, but I wish I could at least see what the throttle is doing when I release it..

Aftermarket "flash-type" EM can change the responce factor of the DBW system. Might want to look into that direction... plus you'll gain some drivability and power to boot even without any other mods on the car.

all the current flash-type EM systems change the DBW so that it reacts quicker when opening the throttle. None of them (to my knowledge) change how long the throttle is held open after letting off, which is the problem the OP and many 06 drivers are having difficulty with.
