Post 98 GT Dash lights

Question for Legacy owners. Do the Heater/AC control buttons light? Recent purchase and Owner's man is no help. My 91 LS had backlighting on the button itself so one could see which button was what. My current GT lights the little green "activated" lamp but no backlighting on the buttons or the Blue to Red Temp control, or the Slide control itself. I checked all connectors on the module itself to be tight. Any ideas?
In the dark!
Glenn

Glenn-

off the top of my head, the buttons for the vents (top, mix, bottom, defrost, etc) are lighted. As well is the temperature slide (there should be a lighted stripe down middle). As far as the temp setting itself (blue-red)...ya know: I can't remember for the life of me! I'll have to go and check out my car now cause you've got me stumped! (and it's driving me crazy!!!)

I'll get back to you on that. As for all the connectors tight...uhrm...it's a 98 right? It should still be under warranty right????

Thanks Chris, I appreciate it! I'm the second owner and too many miles! Guess I'm on my own. Now to bug the Dealer for wiring diagram help. I'm sure someone knocked something loose when installing Security system or Sub or the like. Wish me luck! Love that GT!!!!

I have a used '97 GT and only the selected mode lights up (top vent/bottom vent/defr. etc).
But maybe the bulbs are burned out? It is kind of a utilitarian dash, could be more user friendly.

Cool

I just recently replaced my A/C bulbs in my 98 GT. Here's what I found out. When you take out the console, there are I believe 3 little blue or brown plastic thingies with a + on it. Those are your bulbs. You can twist these with your fingers. 2 of them are for the heater/cooler slider gauge, one for the buttons, and the other is for the knob. The knob one is actually longer than the other other two. Remember, those bulbs were kinda pricey. I went to Carter Subaru, and they cost $5 each!

Now, there is another part that comes out, which is the knob assembly. I am still yet to figure that out. Hope that helps.

Thumbs up

Rich, Thanks for the details! Must confess I stopped disassembly before disconnecting the control cable and completely removing the module. That will be next, and I'll check out the bulbs.
Gumball, Looks like you may be in the same boat as I! I'll PM you when/if I get this fixed.
Thanks to all in this forum!

Think those babys are Dealer only! Have fun! Be sure to do it all at once, as if you leave the vents disconnected (hazard switch) you lose the turn indicators. Boy was my wife mad!!
