Hello, first of all I am still new and I'm sure I will be yelled at. I have tried to search but since there are so few spec b's out there, don't seem to have much luck.
What I am looking to see is if there is anyone who knows someone or has an 07 or 08 spec b that has had to rebuild the transmission due to the 4th gear synchros going out. I got the car a little over a year ago with 4th grinding unless you really baby it due ti the synchros. Cobb surgeline said I should get the transmission rebuilt and I am looking into it. however, I need to know if I should just pick up OEM, or some aftermarket synchros that might be stronger. I have seen many people complaining about these in the spec b as well as STi's. My current set up is as follows; Perrin tmic perrin turbo inlet COBB sf intake exedy clutch walbro fp perrin PSRS invidia high flow cat'd dp HKS Silent HiPower dp back exhaust. Hawk HPS pads COBB AP custom tune @surgeline tuning @17.5psi after the transmission is fixed, I plan to upgrade the tiny VF-46 with a 52 to pick up a little top end as well as going ewg and all those goodies. SO looking around 300/325 MAYBE 325 with E-85. down the road I might go FP green and build the block. so ideally I would like to make sure the transmission can handle 3-400whp so I dont need to worry about it if I go FP green. the car is my dd and does not see the track or launches. just like getting to the speed limit ish as quickly as possible and have fun on the bendys. Hopefully I dont get too much negative feedback. and THANKS! ![]()
