At the Track SpeedTrialUsa Track day- Gingerman Raceway-July 14th !

Its that time again folks, time to dust off the track wheels and go racing!

Traditionally SpeedTrialUSA are events open and close the race season here in Midwest, and the first Track day is approaching rather fast. It will be Friday July 14th at The Gingerman Raceway in South Haven MI.

As always with SpeedTrialUSA SAFETY IS No1 CONCERN!

A typical SpeedTrialUSA day would start out with a mandatory drivers' meeting and class time. Run groups are divided out into 4 groups by driver experience. Beginners will receive driving instructions from SpeedTrial usa instructors at no extra cost. Each run group will get 20 minutes of track time and expect about four to five sessions in a day. That means you get one hour and 20 minutes or more of track time to drain you of your racing urges.
I usually make about 200 mi during a day, on-track driving.

THE PRICE IS $145!

You guys can pre register with us, tech inspections is also free and done BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!

We will bring out our trailer with tools and will be available for assistance at the track.

For more information visit www.speedtrialusa.com

If you have any questions at all feel free to give us a call and we would be more than happy answer them!

Thank you!

Sincerely;

Rich K.

Hate to be too much of a smart ass but I couldn't resist.

200 miles of track time with 1hr 20 minutes of driving averages out @ 150mph per lap.

What sort of cars you guys building @ P&L motor sports, I think I need one.
Nigel.

A stock WRX will probably get up to 100mph, maybe a little over - you'll be rowing between 3rd and 4th gear most of the day. You should need 4th gear between 11 and 1, between 3 and 5, and between 10 and 11. You might also need it between 2 and 3, and 7 and 10.

If you go to 2nd, you're probably not doing something right :P

YMMV

Let's see... roughly 45sec a lap or is that just me? ;P

I'll have to respectfully disagree - a stock wrx MIGHT kiss 100 with a very good driver, but the braking zones for turns 11 and 1 are just as exciting at 80mph as they are at 120 especially with stock WRX brakes

LOL,
Nothing gets past thewy eys of Nasioc members. The time before last (last time my motor gave out oon me) I had rougly 180 miles of on track driving after a day. I went out A total of 7 times I think....

Oint is, you'll get you money's worth.

On back straight I get close to 125 mph... I hope to be hitting higher speeds with my new setup

When I had my stock WRX, you could take the whole track in 3rd gear, it would hit the rev limiter just before the last corner coming onto the straight. If you really wanted to push it you could go into second at turn 11 but probably not really necessary.

It's not only a question of how many times... but how long you're out :P

Stock brakes (pads) aren't a problem really - by the 3rd lap you won't know if it's pads or boiled fluid
Not an issue really, coz by lap 4 your RE92s will chunk to hell anyway

And i too will have to respectfully disagree... T1 and T11 are much more exciting at 120 than they are at 80... there's a glimmer of hope you can make it at 80, at 120 it's offroading time :P

I wish Speed trials would use Grattan as it is a far more interesting track than Gingerman. Or Road America!! ...

You could take it in 5th if you wanted to... i think it's best the Down Under remain silent when adults are talking about track day driving

You won't need to worry about the 120 as the Honda would lucky to see 80 on the clock.!

I don't think mine even has 120 on the clock... 80 is really pushing it too, maybe on R-compounds...

Have you ever tried GingerMan counter-clockwise? That is what we are doing on the 14th!

We would love to host an event at Grattan, however, safety would become a huge concern as would the lack of passing zones. It is a very fun track though.

Hope to see you guys soon,
Brian.

not to mention grattan - they have pretty much priced out track days in recent years - a lot of groups don't run there anymore due to the cost of renting the track going so high.

the other thing is sftey as brian said - grattan is not only a large venue, which makes it hard to monitor, but the inffield paddock is just a saftey nightmare, shutting down the track periodically for crossovers and the such.

http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/1631103

"-$135 for about 2 hours of track time (non-refundable)" and "-Lunch will be included this time (hence the higher price)" are a bit confusing...

As for safety, i agree, the track is less forgiving than Gman; it has much less runoff area, and the infield paddock complicates things even further. It's also a more technical track and requires a little more experience IMO or at least an instructor for your 1st visit there.

For those who don't know what the track looks like ---> http://www.grattanraceway.com/thetrack.html
Also, the map doesn't show elevation changes, which are huge part of the tracks appeal

I don't want to bardge in on someone's thread, but the event you just noted is put on by us. There's a thread here too. no need to go to honda-tech http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hlight=grattan

To clarify, we had an event at Grattan on May 11th and charged $125 for the day without lunch, and this time we are charging $135 and we're covering the cost for a lunch for everyone.
