To me is sounds like a typical dealer not caring about you because you might not drive a 50,000 vehicle.

It happens every day all day around the world, average people (speaking for myself) get treated like dog pooh no matter what and where.

If you pulled up in the most expensive vehicle they sell, watch the difference, it's true simple as pie!

try contacting SOA, they have been very helpful with questions I have. I think they are willing to help more than the dealer because the dealer thinks you will forget about it, and let it pass. Once you talk to SOA they know you care enough about the problem and are more willing to help.

I had a problem with a Chevy dealer recently, I contacted chevy, about 2 days later I got an apology call from the dealer. I'll still never buy another GM, but it was nice of them.

Good luck,
Steve

Thumbs down Bill Kolb Jr (dont go)

I'm looking to trade my 05 WRX for a 05 STi . my 05 WRX has about 17000 miles. so i left my number with local dealers one called back quickly it was Bill Kolb Jr subaru in Orangeburg NY . They had just gotten a 05 STi in Black with 32158 miles. it did not have the rear deck spoiler it had aftermarket muffler and the car had some other alterations done to it ... now that is all fine but they shouldnt try to sell it as if were almost new, they wanted 26580.00 . the cars resale value is about right with 18000 miles not with 32000 and out of warranty and trying to sell a additional warranty. the car is about 16 months old so that tells me that the old owner just beat it to death and turned it in. remember that this is in NY and we dont have large highways and there is a bus and subway system or some other type of transportation.

I had gone to them before and left and purchased my 05 in PA for about 4000.00 less and got more than what i was asking for (prem pkg) and didnt pay for it.... maybe ill go back i wont go back a third time

also looking for an STi, and Bill Kolb was the closest dealership with a used one, so i figured i'd go give it a test drive (with absolutely no intention of buying).

So i get there and we go straight out. This car has been BEATEN...i'm sorry for whoever gets it. It HAD an intake, has a catback, no EM, and has been truly worked. The salesman took me out on some insane backroads around there though which was pretty cool. After driving a lightly modded 02 for a while, it was fun to get all 4 tires completely sideways with trees 5 ft on either side!! lol.

This is one of MANY horror stories i've heard about bill kolb...

The other horror story was somebody (on this board) bought a pre-production STi from them, and then they wouldn't take it back when it had problems!! I will post his exact story if wanted, but basically he had to get a threatening letter from the NY attorney general before they would talk to him...

STAY AWAY FROM BILL KOLB JR. !!!! They are asses, and will try to rip you off...there are many other dealerships in the area, all of which will give you a better deal with better customer service, and be HONEST!!

Default ((sigh)) nothing's changed at Bill Kolb

Bill Kolb Subaru on Rt. 303 on Rockland, NY....stay away! I've had nothing but problems with them. The most disturbing thing about this dealership is not the mechanics (who are mostly knowledgeable), but the managers and higher-ups, who sneakily impose all sorts of hidden fees to generate income. See, the mechanics are not allowed to talk to customers- only the managers are, who then tell the mechanics what to do. This is because Bill Kolb's priority is to generate profits by any means necessary, not fix cars.

After dealing with this dealership for over 4 years and getting nothing but headaches, I've noticed that the place is extremely adept at making money off of unsuspecting customers. They're systematically prejudiced against people who tune their cars -not because we actually challenge their rudimentary car-diagnosing ability- but because we actually know a thing or two about cars and this makes us harder to fool. So primarily for that reason, car-savvy people like us have always butted heads with these scam artists.

If they think you're technically uninformed, they will take advantage of you by doing excessive, unecessary work, imposing additional fees, and providing some of the most outrageous and illogical diagnoses of your car's problem to further jack up the price. If you show that you know as much as they do about your car, they will treat you will utter contempt, pressure you into compliance, or most commonly- blame you for causing the problem and guilt you into letting them fix it. This approach is nearly universal among all Bill Kolb's managers and leads me to believe that they're instructed to use it by bosses higher up who are more concerned with making profits than with their reputation. The only manager I've dealt with who was actually worth his salt -a fellow tuner who dealt in straight talk and had a good reputation among his customers- was "let go" (back in 2004, I believe), evidently for putting customer service over profits. I'm told had little trouble finding a better job at another dealership out of state.

Honest car dealerships are hard to find. Nowhere is this more true than at Bill Kolb Subaru in Rockland, NY. Stay away.

I bought my 2004 WRX there back in May of 05. It was used with 6800 miles. Right when i was about to complete the deal, I sat down the the sales manager to sign papers etc. I then hear "Would you like to purchase a keyless remote entry for $350.00" I was shocked to hear this. I'm at a subaru dealership about to spend 22k plus tax, and this moron has the balls to tell me I need to pay 350.00 for a keyless remote entry that comes with the car. I told the guy straight up, "The remote comes with the car, if you are going to charge me, im walking out the door and going to a different dealership" 15-20 minutes passes, he calls someone from Subaru of America, and finally gave me the remote. Can someone tell me, is that the way to do business? Who charges 350 for a remote that comes with the car? BILL KOLB'S DEALERSHIP WILL SCAM YOU IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED, AND DON"T HAVE A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF CARS

When I went there in April to get a 2006 WRX TR, they tried to scam the crap out of me.

I was trading in a 2002 Honda Accord 2 door with about 65,000 miles on it. The blue book on the car was 8,500 but it had one accident on carfaqs.

Right away they offerred me 8 for the car and 23,300 for the WRX.

As soon as I sat down to get to signing, there was a $300 fee for their service program attached that was non negotiable and then the trade in value of my car was dropped to 6,000.

This was as I was about to sign.

I got up, listened to what the ass had to say about my car, yelled at them for being dirtbags in front of everyone in there, asked for the keys to my Honda back and walked right out.

I had a similar story about a trade in. I brought a damaged car (not looking for ANY money, just curious as to what they would say) in for trade. They took me out, trying to get me hooked on a car, finally picked one i wanted (used LGT) and then asked them to give me an estimate, the salesperson goes to the manager and then comes back with a range. The range sounded good to me, more than we had ever expected to get, we told them we wanted the car, let's do this right now. Then the manager FINALLY does some work for his pay and takes the car out for a ride, no problem, then he comes back, then about 5 minutes later I see him drive out again wondering where he went. Ends up he took it to a body shop and CALLS the dealership to tell us that the offer they gave us was no longer valid and dropped the offer SIGNIFICANTLY. He didn't even have the balls to tell my father and I to our faces. So we get up, basically ask them what "ballpark" of figures they were in, and walk out.

Two days later I ended up buying the car cause it was local, they price they offered was fine, and I just needed a car. So the day I go to pick it up, not only was my salesperson so incompetent she calls me the DAY OF PICKUP and tells ME I need to get all the insurance stuff and I need to call the DMV and all this the day of DELIVERY. Now I can understand that they may have had a lot of work to do, I mean I'm very sympathetic, but do NOT call your customer who is about to spill about $22,000 total on a car the DAY OF expecting all this to happen.

THEN when I went to pick up the car I was ignored, then helped slowly, then ignored, then still ended up negotiating other fees, ignored again, and almost 4 HOURS later, drove away in my car. Im still convinced the only reason why I got my car that day was because they were closing 5 minutes after I drove away.

AWFUL DEALERSHIP, I'll NEVER buy another car there EVER, and am currently looking for a new dealership to get my servicing done if possible.

Man, they have a 06 WRX wagon in just the color I want. It's got ~900 miles on it, and its marked down to $21k. I could wait, save up some more and get an 07, but I'm not sure if this deal is too good to pass up. Does anyone have anything good to say about Bill Kolb? Or is there anyone from there on these forums? I think that if I go in expecting to get sandbagged, then I can better protect myself from their crap.

What do you mean you bought the warranty?

I thought they all came with warranties?

Mine did.

So many mixed thoughts abouth Bill Kolb Jr. Some people like them, some people don't. I guess it all depends on the situation, car being purchased, and the sales person.

My girl just bought an 05 STI there. The very next day she had it, it broke and had to be flatbedded back to them. So far so good. The car is being fixed under warranty. But I think the car should have been checked out better. But as far as sales goes. Her sales person was very nice and helpfull and did not push anything on her. So lets see what happen when she goes to pick up the car...

Don't you think there is a problem when something blows on a car the day after you bought it?

Didn't they check it out before selling it?

Get your car back and never go there again.

Have you considered the age of some of the threads you are bumping?

There is a good chance they were good back in 02/03 but something changed in 04/05/06............
