I bought my 05 sti from bill kolb. The car was owned by subaru the whole time, and was completely stock, 9000 miles. I haven't had any problems with it, i'm now at 45k and cobb stg 2 among other mods. The car is a GREAT car, zero issues.

HOWEVER, i didn't get the wheel lock keys (and i got a flat after 1 week, couldn't take off the tire), a spare key, or the remote for the car, and they didn't work with me on it at all when I wrote them about it. so my opinion is that they work to make the sale, but after that forget it. ZERO concern for the customer.

I will avoid bill kolb subaru in the future.

Appears they "lose" the remotes so they can charge people for them. This "lost" remote is a reoccuring theme at this dealership.

Default Bill Kolb Subaru - Rip off sales and Rip off service

I agree, don't buy a car from them. I'm knowledgeable about autos and I knew more than the salesman. I knew where I was getting my loan (not from them) but they insisted I meet with the finance guy. He completely exhausted me and it was worthless. I ended up picking up a new car that had 400 miles on it. I was stupid not to tell them to knock off some money from the price. When I bought one car that had 253 miles on it years prior, different dealership, I got the dealer to knock off money. I reported them to whoever I could because I found out later it was a repossessed car. The DMV and attorney general in that state got on the dealership for their unethical car sales.

Just took our Subie in for a 60k mile servicing. They wanted $500 to replace the front brakes. WHAT? I was told by a girl on her cellphone (talking to a friend, I appeared to be an inconvenience) the $500 was to replace the brakes and REPLACE the rotors. What... do I look stupid? She said the rear rotors needed to be resurfaced and the brakes replaced. See last sentence.

I took it to a different auto service joint (I wanted to know if it was safe to drive the car) and asked to see the brakes. The rotors were slightly worn (front and back) - normal wear. NEITHER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR RESURFACED! I know what rotors look like because I have had resurfacing done on other OLDER cars. Front pads need replacing soon (not immediately as BK also said). For a little over $300, I'm getting ceramic pads and no rotor work.

I am an older woman but I know cars. I plan to report them to a lot of people. They could've ripped me off. Yes, dealerships are more expensive and I won't say why I went there but had a reason. They also wanted $240 for a trans. and differential flush. My mechanic said "Run, don't walk out of there."

Read enough? Don't buy from Bill Kolb Subaru and god, don't take your car there for servicing.

I would advise against going to this dealer. They do not check their cars before they sell them. They let cars go with no knowledge of the car's history, condition, or parts on and in the car.

If you go to this dealer, if you have to, buy a trade in non subaru, i would say they are of much better quality. Take it directly to a private dealer for inspection, and never have it serviced at Kolb. The other week i was in and watched a service man tint windows of a new car. This job was done shotty, it was bubbling with in the first hour. He then said " they wont notice screw this S*#@. Took the car outside to wait for its victim.

They do not and will not help you even if you have a legit problem. They will put your car up on the lift and say there is nothing wrong.

According to paperwork found by my attorney, we have found that Spitzer has already sighted them for selling bogus cars and models. I have contacted the NY state Attorney General's office and have reported them. I expect they will be getting a visit soon.

I guess that happen to me a a CT dealership Dan Perkins.. went to pick up a 2003 Forester XS and what I found out is it did not have the keyless remote installed.. Nor did it have the correct keys with the rubber on it... Told then I was not going to sign until the car had the keyless entery installed and the mud flap.

They did do it without charge.

Well

I guess I am one of the few who had a positive experience with them.

I don't know about sales since I bought mine on 04 and my sales no longer works there. But at the time it was fine and hassle free

For service however all my experiences have been positive. Recently I has 2 minor problems

1. My exhaust pipe gave out, seemed like a weld cracked some where. Took it in, they fixed it under warrenty.

2. This week, I had problem with vent solenoid, took it to the closest dealership, they quoted me a ~900 to fix a solenoid, I walked out, and they charged me a $200 in diagnosis fee. Took it Kolb, they fixed the problem and without any hassle. It was not warrantied, but cost me 800 less.

I am sure everyone's expereience varies, the first dealship i took it to was recommeneded my members here, but was not a positive one for me. So far I am happy with them.

just me 2 cents

Their Service should get better since they've got a new Service Manager who believes in taking good care of his customers.

They are horrible. Just run. Run FAST. I am currently doing buisness with SofA and they tore into my car sighting problem after problem after problem. They will not honor your warranty. We all know subs have interesting clutch etc.. mine needed to be replaced before i bought it.. they "serviced it" but did not replace it. I brought it back at 59,000 miles and told them to replace it.. ended up calling saying it was perfect.... damn this went totally out on me at 61,000 miles... woops president bush, your warranty is up.. but you can now pay 1500 bucks

AUTO DEALER CITED FOR SELLING "EDDIE BAUER" LOOK-A-LIKES
Spitzer Settles Case Involves False Advertising and Deceptive Claims

Attorney General Eliot Spitzer today announced that a Rockland County auto dealer will pay restitution and civil penalties to settle allegations that it deceived consumers into thinking they were purchasing top-of-the-line sports utility vehicles. The settlement also covers allegations of false advertising by the dealership.

Bill Kolb Jr. Ford falsely advertised and sold "EB2000" model Ford Expeditions that copied the outwardly distinctive characteristics of the "Eddie Bauer" version without providing many other features which make the model desirable.

"My office is aggressively combating the many unscrupulous business tactics of auto dealers throughout the state," Spitzer said. "Dubious practices such as those discovered in this case continue to blemish the reputation of auto dealers everywhere."

The Eddie Bauer model is generally considered to be the "top-of-the-line" version of the Ford Expedition, with many standard features that are expensive options on the XL and XLT models. These include: a larger engine, leather interior, fog lamps, a captain's chair, tan trim on the doors and fenders, a higher quality sound system, illuminated running boards, and the Eddie Bauer logo affixed to the seats, fender, and tailgate.

Since 1999, Bill Kolb Jr. Ford has been advertising and selling Ford Expeditions under the name "EB 2000." These vehicles had certain dealer add-ons, such a tan striping scheme, tan wheel fender flares and an EB2000 logo, which mimicked the actual Eddie Bauer model manufactured by Ford. However, these vehicles were not authentic Eddie Bauer models and lacked many features of the authentic version.

In settling the case, Bill Kolb Jr. Ford agreed to cease marketing and selling "EB2000" or "EB2001" Expeditions.

Spitzer's office also forced Kolb to discontinue other objectionable advertising practices including:
Promising a "30 Day Money Back Guarantee" which was contradicted in fine print by restrictions on the mileage of the vehicle and the fact that the guarantee would only be given as a credit toward the purchase of another vehicle;
Advertising specific "deep discount" prices in large, bold print without adequately disclosing that an additional $5,000 down payment is required;
Comparing sale prices of used cars to the original manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the vehicles when they were new; and
Advertising used vehicles for sale at specific prices in a manner that left consumers unable to identify the specific vehicles that were the subject of the advertised offer.

Bill Kolb Jr. Ford also will pay restitution to consumers who were duped into buying EB2000 Expeditions and will pay $10,000 to the state in civil penalties and costs.

Individuals with complaints about auto dealers are encouraged to contact the Attorney General's consumer help line at (800) 771-7755.

This case was handled by Assistant Attorney General Doris K. Morin of the Westchester Regional Office under the supervision of Assistant Attorney General In Charge Gary Brown.

Are you kidding? That's the worst scam by a dealer I've ever heard of. it always comes down to "buyer beware" I mean I'm sure that the people who bought the EB2000 did not do their research. It's still not right. actually makes me wonder how a dealer becomes "Stellar". This place seems very shady.

I'm kind of worried since my dad just bought a used Subie from them today.

It appears that most of the bad posts here for this dealership are pretty moldy. Except for a hand full of posters who keep bumping their stories up I dont see many recent bad experiences. Can that be? Did they actually get any better? Did anything really change at the dealership? Does anyone have recent dealings and can comment on the dealership?

Default Positive Experiences with Bill Kolb Subaru

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Bill Kolb Subaru. I purchased a new car from them in Jan 2007. Purchase went smoothly. Follow-up with regular service appointments have all been very positive as well.

Default Bill Kolb Jr.

My family has had nothing but good experiences with them. My dad bought two Ford Taurus from them when they had the Ford Dealer, then we bought our '02 Subaru Legacy from them. Last week both me and my mom got Subaru Legacy Elite's from them. So that's 5 cars we bought from him and no problems. Our other Legacies came from Liberty Subaru and Ramsey Subaru. 5 Subis for my family through the years.

We shopped around and he had the best deals. I originally wanted a 5 door Impreza hatchback, Wayne Subaru had one for $20,318. We looked on Kolbs website and he had quite a few I found the exact one Wayne had with 4,000 miles and selling for 16,000something. So that's how we ended up at Bill Kolbs. My dad test drove the Impreza for me and didn't like how it handled, the dealer let us drive a 2nd and my dad still didn't feel a difference. Then the dealer suggested the Legacy Elite, we had seen it on the website and my dad liked the lease price, but the website only had manual listed. The dealer told us they also had automatic and showed them to us. We bought two that same day. I got mine last Tuesday and today is Saturday and they were already calling me to schedule 90 day check up and see how I liked the car.

I was happy with them, and the the best thing was with this promotion the price was pre-set none of that crap "let me check with my manager and see what we can do etc." It works out for me to be $187.55 per month, 24 months, $1,000 manufacturers rebate, and you can either opt for 10 or 12,000 miles depending on what you need, depending on which one your monthly payment might be a bit more I opted for the 10,000.I have to pay 1334.58 at delivery, and the bill says total cash price delivered $3,334.58.

I love the leather seats and sunroof

there's a Forester there with just over 5K miles selling for a little over $20K. it's the cheapest i've seen in respect to mileage i've seen yet. these horror stories are really disappointing.
