Default utec w/ automatic. somethings wrong?

i have a 2004 wrx( w/ 2002/2003 ecu, early production car) with the following mods.
utec
vf39
modded 810 injectors
dp
up
exhaust
fmic
bov
fuel pump
wb 02
-my problem is that this is the 2nd time i've taken it to the track, and the best i can pull out of it is anywhere from a 15 sec. to a 25 sec. 1/4 depending on how bad it falls on it's face during the run?
-does anyone know why my car is falling on its ass. it hits up to about 16 psi, then when the car wants to shift naturally, i falls on its ass, almost feels like a misshift(not possable because it's an automatic.
- is there something w/ an automatic trany that messes up the utec? PLEASE HELP, this is killing me. thanks , anthony I POSTED LOGS

Yes the automatic can have an issue if using the open loop fueling. I believe in the manual it says that in rather large bold letters.

Ya me..... You're running big injectors with the utec to not be using olf. When was the last time you checked the a/f ratio at boost? Who tuned your car? Where's the log?

Not sure, I am not a UTEC user because of the issues with tuning. But I was at the Track about a week ago with the AP Stage 2 and my best time was 14.8. The Automatics seem to have a problem hitting target boost at the drag strip. I can hit boost just fine on the highway if I mash the gas. But at the track I couldn't get it over 14.5 psi. Hell, it wouldn't even let me launch at full boost like it has let me on the street.

You definitely have more mods than my g/fs 04 WRX, and we are pulling faster times than you. So something is wrong. Maybe we could diagnose it better if you had some logs of your runs. At your power level, are you sure you aren't slipping the clutches in the transmission? I have heard you shouldn't go over 300 crank horsepower without transmission mods on the autos.

I'll get the logs when i get my other comp. back. but my afrs are right where there supposed to be i think. under full throttle, it reads rich on the utec, and 10.1 i believe on the aem wb 02

yea something is wrong, I ran low 13's with a stock turbo, intercooler and stock cat back.
First check to see that the maf scaller is turned on and open loop fuel is off. If olf is on, it will kill your tranny quick.

It is normal for the motor to sound like it's misfiring during shifts cause basically it is! The ecu shuts down cylinders during shifts as to not over power the tranny. Thats why olf doesn't work with an auto. When in open loop the signal telling the ecu it's shifting is no longer sent to the ecu for some reason.

Check that and post your logs cause something isn't right. oh and 10.1-1 is pretty rich. Shoot for like 11.0-1

You might wanna look into a problem with your boost control (i.e. boost map, bleeder valve etc.) I have had 3 different turbos and setups and have never had a problem building or holding boost. At the track or on the street.

i think that was part of the log after my car took a crap, so i took my foot off the gas and coasted through?

It doesn't matter when the engine breaks if it breaks. If I was you, I'd look into a reflash. This might not be what's causing your problems, but if you keep ignoring your cel light it will probably be a problem sooner or later. Not that this is what's causing the hesitation(except for when there's knock), but it can't be helpin. Ya might wanna check your spark plugs cause I hear knock can change the gap.

I dunno what to tell ya about the car not wantin to move though. I've heard that's why you can't use olf with automatics, but if your open loop fueling is tuned off........

not sure if this matters with my overall problem, but i am running a map for a Stage 4 FMIC closed loop basemap that i got from www.projectwrx.com all i have done is mess w/ the boost to hit target boost. a freind helped me w/ setting up everything else. would a brand new professional tune and map help substancably? thanks again

Does it feel like your tranny is the problem, or is the engine taking a crap? Does the cel flash when it happens?
